    So my friends PS3 gets a red screen saying  "serious error has occurred" in like  30 different languages
    any tips on how to fixes it

    Have him call Sony. There's not enough information on the net about resolving this Red Screen problem. They all seem unrelated and occur at different times, settings, models, etc.

    Yeah, this is a very, very rare problem, only heard a handful of stories. 
    Did your friend keep his PS3 in a glass box in the middle of the Gobi Desert?
