Xenoblade! The best console rpg I've played since the SNES days. Easily made my list of favorite games of all time.

Posted by Bucklebutt

I literally just picked up xenoblade chronicles about a week ago at my local gamespot. I was very surprised to see it and it was still 60$, but I had heard a lot about it so i bought it. This is my first time playing through the game, I'm 40h into it, and it is amazing! It's awesome to see people still talking about it.

I'm so happy they got Scott Popular back on the podcast to talk about Evo.

Xenoblade is in the mail en route to me now, will this podcast ruin anything for me?

True story: I somehow lost a bag with a video camera in it and Scott Popular found it. He made me repeat "I am a dumbass" about 30 times before he gave it back to me.

Scott Popular is a great guest as always.

About USFIV though, I have to say Japan DIDN'T have it. Yes they got the game earlier, but they did not get the home release and the game was changed between the versions.

Also I feel Bonchan had that tournament. Sadly he did not seem to have good match experience against Rose and it really hurt him.

Fchamp and John Choi beat Daigo with Dhalsim and Ryu respectively.

Sounds about right.

Great episode this week btw, my second-favourite gaming podcast!

Hmm, how does a D list star like Kim Kardashian help you become an A list star... Confused

I guess i'll continue to be "that guy". Just a warning to headphone users. Along with the usual Mark making his teeth suck sound every time he opens his mouth, about halfway into the podcast Scott Popular just starts chewing food directly into the microphone for a long time.

Had to just switch to an external speaker as it does get kind of annoying to hear someone just chewing directly in your ear.

This has recently become my favorite podcast series. Wish it was weekly.

@cloudyimpulse: the week gap between episode makes it so much better that and the badass thunder in the background

I had wet dreams about Alyssa Milano

Can someone tell me what that cover photo is from? I have no idea and it is really bugging me. And what is that stuff at the end too? The music and the sci-fi stuff? Argh!

Edited by GalacticPunt

@oldskooldeano: The clip at the end must be from some lecture/investigation into Scientology. Which was really random, I don't recall anything said in the episode that relates to it. Oh, Hiroko's nickname this time. Also, now that I've called attention to it Tom Cruise's ninja lawyers are coming to murder us all. They really don't like their absurd lore being openly discussed.

P.S. Please have Scott Popular on as frequently as possible. He's brought an awesome energy to the show both the times I've heard him.

Daigo getting eliminated from EVO 2k14:

@galacticpunt: Thanks buddy, and that still is from the Double Dragon movie, which I obviously must watch now.

I just got to the Dark Souls 2 DLC discussion. I hope they eventually play the DLC because it's pretty amazing. Environment is huge, the level folds on itself like the old Dark Souls 1 environments, environmental puzzles, nice lore additions, and the bosses are fairly difficult if you fight them by yourself (lots of people are co-oping the bosses because they can't deal).

tl;dr Play the Crown of the Sunken King DLC.

I would say that, Although I think no-one really denies that Dark Souls 1 is a better game than DS2 overall. I feel you guys are dismissing the second game too haphazardly. There are many technical improvements on this new game over the original (most importantly the combat feels significantly smoother), and while the cohesive blend of narrative, lore and gameplay doesn't feel quite as solid as the first one, it is still a pretty great game.

In the same way, The Sunken King DLC falls back on a lot of the strengths of the original. And knowing that you guys enjoy zelda, I'd recommend picking it up just because of some of the great puzzles / challenges in the dungeon. It is true that it isn't nearly as meaty as Artorias of the Abyss, and 2 out of the 3 boss battles are adaptations of previous fights from the main game, and in that sense, it is slightly disappointing, but still a pretty great addition overall ( Especially since the last fight is probably one of the best in the game, and even more, one of the best in the series ).

give it a try.. won't you?

I think a lot of people deny it. Me for one.

That said, Crown of the Sunken King is as good a piece of Souls content as you can find. Parts of it remind me of the bearbug (or rockworm?) tunnels from Demon's Souls. There's a sense of claustrophobia and being lost that recall moments of trying to find my way through the maze-like portion of Stonefang Tunnels.

Also, they managed to include a better version of Dark Souls' bounding demons.
