BOP! BOMBCAST!

Early Bombcast is like a gift out of the blue with no special occasion attached.

Posted by namco51

It's a miracle! WIthout question, in the past whenever I've checked for an early bombast--no early bombcast. Whenever I don't check until the next day--I missed out on commuting home with an early bombcast.

Finally, today I get the early bombcast!!!

This opening ad music is straight up just "Long Train Running" by the Doobie Brothers slowed down. Not that that's a bad thing.

@jeff I ebay ordered an XFL jersey earlier today, before this came out. What is wrong with me?

Danny Cast

In Dying Light, I have found guns to be extremely useful and have had a pistol and rifle equipped for most of the game. You can buy ammo from most if not all vendors. Head shots will kill regular zombies with one hit, and when in quarantine areas with volatiles or other strong zombies, I just dump all my ammo into them because I can just replenish ammo at a vendor.

The icon shooting game that Danny was asking about was called Inner Space. I played the shareware version, it was pretty good.

When Drew gets asked what he's been playing and he just talks about stuff he plays on videos i feel like he's a kid who forgot to do his homework, and instead of just admitting he didn't do it he just tries to wing it

Posted by NPfeifer

That game that Danny is talking about is "Virus".

Drew has mentioned in the past that he doesn't get a lot of time to play games, since it's not his actual job; he may not have gotten to play games much outside of videos. It's not like he's lying by talking about the games he's playing on videos. More people listen to the Bombcast than visit the site and watch videos.

@roy42: I didn't mean it in a bad way. I like it a lot

Wow. That opening music.

The bombcast this week was quite good. Perhaps due to little news, but the extended analysis around Nintendo's business strategy and the whole discussion around console and PC, and the reason why the staff seemed to believe consoles in their current form might eventually disappear was quite interesting. Those topics are often discussed, but rarely to this extent. Much appreciated.

I would like to think consoles have quite a bit of life left in 'em, but they brought up a lot of good points this episode. I think the Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo names are all still so strong that they could all easily survive at least another generation or two if they just keep doing what they doing and 3rd parties still wanna play ball, but hey, like Danny(or was it Jeff?) said, someone could come along with just as if not more convenient and blow 'em out the water. Who can say? It's going to be an interesting next few years,. That's for sure.

The NFL actually has a big following in Europe. There is a reason they are looking into moving a team to London. The Wembley games always sell out even when the Dolphins and the fucking Jaguars are playing.

Good show.

I'm with Jeff on Nintendo not using dual screens for it's 5th generation handheld console. Having two screens is nice to display auxiliary information or extra contextual inputs, but that has seen less and less use as 3DS games have come out. Because the touchscreen is the true innovation from the DS, that must be carried forward. This means that the 3D screen will not see a return. While I love the 3D effect of the 3DS, it is a neat visual trick that doesn't compare to the utility of a (hopefully capacitive) touchscreen.

Ya and as soon as you can figure out travel that will make sense. And also I bet a big part of those games selling out is because of how infrequent they are.

Posted by ShaggE

Oh man, Inner Space! Now that's a deep cut. I played the shareware of that quite a bit.

Missy Eliot has said she's taken time off because she had concerns about her sudden rise to fame, that she hasn't heard anything that inspires her to make something new and probably the most important, she has Grave's disease, an autoimmune disease that at some point prevented her from even lifting a pen.

@drewbert phish.net is probably one of the best websites ever for the sheer amount of available data. The fact I can plug in the list of shows I've been to and be able for me to have the craziest statistics about things like: what songs I've seen the most, what commonly played songs I haven't seen, and the percentage of their total catalog I have seen is insane. Even dumb stuff like "Over/Underplayed"(which means, for example, if I've been to 20 shows, and a certain song is played 50% of the time, I would be expected to see it 10 times in my 20 shows, so that stat basically tracks expectation vs reality) is tracked. There's actually an interesting infographic on the site right now examining the by day distribution of shows throughout the years.

Eh, they sell out because an NFL game being playing in London is a rarity and is one of the most populous cities in the world. That being said, yes, people who do not live in the United States have the capacity to enjoy some ol' gridiron. Also lol @ moving a team to London...that's a hilarious can of worms.

Just like here in the US while tour games from teams like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United sell out to gigantic stadiums... and while the domestic American league (MLS) is ok, it is not even comparable in the success of the Champions League. In addition, there are plenty of soccer fans in an NFL locker room to my knowledge, and the idea that "real" Americans have some childish grudge against the sport is stupid.

Born and raised in Belfast, I think I'm in a decent position to clarify how it's pronounced, so here you go: Belfast. Pretty much what Danny said, just without the (southern) Irish accent.

Yes thank you Jeff! I said the same exact thing about H1Z1 and a lot of people came out telling me how many positive reviews it has and how it's showing so much potential. I didn't really want to argue too hard about it but I thought those people were crazy.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOOTBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Always nice to have Danny on the cast too, both because he's generally wonderful and because he can bring a UK/EU perspective into the mix.
