Nintendo's all-stars assemble once again, resulting in one of the best reasons to own a Wii U (and eight GameCube controllers).
The move to more powerful consoles has resulted in a prettier looking wrestling game, but also a far less enjoyable one.
Far Cry 4's open-world provides ludicrous moments and enough chaotic fun to make it worth your while.
If you read my article on Spelunky last week, which was based on my conversation with creator Derek Yu, you'll want to hear everything that didn't make it into the article, too.
Been waiting for this interview.
I forgot the history and don't want to bother looking it up right now - did he create the OG Spelunky or is this the guy who wanted to play Spelunky at work, thus created Spelunky HD?
Also, what up with that? What's the relationship between the guys who make OG and HD (I assume it was two dudes, not one?).
@ch3burashka: Same dude (Derek Yu) made OG and HD Spelunky. Guy who played Spelunky at work made a browser port.
Please, please, please, release the game on PS4
And make an expansion.
Please, please, please, release the game on XBox One

Just beam it into your mind from the PS9
this is a great interview! thanks patrick! and thanks derek yu!
Derek Yu is the man. One of my earliest memories of the internet was posting on the Blackeye Software forums when I was around 13 years old. Where's Trigger Happy 2, Derek!
Giantbomb.com: your #1 source for the latest and greatest Spelunky coverage. All other topics need not apply.
Derek has similar vocal inflections as John Carmack. Amazing!
I will buy whatever you make Mr. Yu. I don't care if it's a dating sim. I'm buying it.
Wow. At one point in my life I talked shit about Patrick Klepek.
The way he picked up the short answers from Derek was so professional. Plus, he is interviewing the right person. There is an infinite amount of things to talk about on this subject. Especially on how enjoyable these leisure experiences can be - games yall.
P.S. Play Aquaria!!!!!!! Its an amazing Metroidvania game.
Even though I deeply respect both people in this interview, this was really hard to listen to - such an awkward, bumbling interview (from both sides).
I wrote a blog post on my personal website recently depicting my late arrival to the Dark Souls bandwagon (I'm not sure if selfpromotion is allowed so I'll spare the link). And one of my big revelations was the fact that the game is not about being hard, it's about the player's willingness to learn. The tagline "Prepare to Die" could easily be changed to "Learn or Die." Spelunky is a similar beast, if the player is willing to analyze their failings instead to brute forcing their way through the game they will be far more likely to progress. These games kill you over and over to show you that the gaming shorthand and bad habits most people have developed do not work here. Dark Souls and Spelunky break players down so they can build them back up and shape them how the designers intend. A player who is already of this mold can succeed very quickly, as evidenced by Spelunky or Dark Souls speed runs, but those who refuse to play by the game's rules are doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
Dereks microphone made this unlistenable (at least for me who uses headphones). Ow.
Thaks Patty! this was super interesting!
