Haven't watched wrestling in years, but listening to these podcast keeps making me want to jump back in.

Mainly here for the bit of VGCW talk, but this occasional window into the bizarro world of wrestling is always entertaining.

Glenn Jacobs is one of the nicest men I've met. Years ago he got my brother in law and I a bunch of tickets for live shows. He lives in his town and is always cool to run into.

Is this the SNES version of the Undertaker's theme? Man I'm glad I had a Genesis.

Thanks to this thing I watched like an hour of Raw last week!

Triple H was gonna fight but didn't!

I don't want to be a pain, Alex, but Ryckert's awful audio is really dampening my excitement for this content:/

Kane looks so deformed as a human. I mean, Glenn Jacobs. I mean, Kane. I MEAN OH GOD.

Someone explain the title pun to me please I don't watch wrasslin'

Posted by Alex

@didion: Apologies for that. We ran a test with his new mic before we recorded and it sounded way better than how it actually came out. Unfortunately, there wasn't much I could do to fix it.

There was a bullshit "controversy" at the September PPV surrounding Daniel Bryan's title win against Randy Orton, so the WWE championship was held in abeyance (I.E., there wasn't a champion) for six weeks.

@alex: For what it's worth, I really appreciate the future amendment of the sound issue. Thank you :)

I haven't watched wrestling for years, but still love this show. Jared might be the MVP of this podcast, such an entertaining dude!

Always entertaining to listen to these! Will be listening to this at work on Sunday night!

Jeff's criticisms and standards for wrestling are so weird and ill-informed.

I love it.

Posted by TurboMan

@jeff There's actually a 24/7 Hardcore Title that is defended in Chikara through nothing but instagram posts.

Well, it's not exactly Chikara, since the actual company has been stuck in 2002 after Eddie Kingston hit Archibald Peck with the Backfist To The Future earlier this year...

anyways, all of the belt defenses are found at Chuck Taylor's instagram page: http://instagram.com/chuckietea

Is there a way to get the Premium feed to work on an android? (Using Podcast Addict). Or because of being premium you have to download them manually to your phone?

I can't wait for the next generation of collusion! VO.

Oh man, I can relate to a DVR full of unwatched TNA episodes. I had about 10 weeks worth and I just deleted them and took them off my record list.

On Japan, Katsuyori Shibata, and working stiff: Shibata left pro wrestling for like five years to be an MMA fighter - his fight record in MMA was 4-10-1. The crossover between MMA and pro wrestling in Japan is long established; Minoru Suzuki was an Olympic level amateur wrestler, founded Pancrase, a legit martial arts league, and is a former champion in All Japan. Nobuhiko Takada was a credibly tough fighter who founded a league called UWFi in the 90s, and Kazushi Sakuraba, best known for winning a 90-minute MMA bout in Japan against Royce Gracie, got his start in UWFi.

Antonio Inoki was so legit as a fighter that he fought Muhammad Ali - in one of the most boring fights ever.

This reminds me that I was at Gamestop a couple days ago to grab a Wii U and I saw, in the DVD bargain bin, "ECW's Bloodiest Matches". I've been kicking myself in the pants every day since for not getting it for five dollars.

Jeff is so negative and watches so little wrestling that he probably shouldn't even be on this show, but who would want that?

I'd also like to throw out there that as much as Giancarlo is right to hate Michael Cole, listen to Alex Riley do commentary for five seconds and you will realize just how semi-decent Cole is at his job. Fucking ugh.

Posted by Slay3r1583

@sub_o: I haven't watched American wrestling in years so I'm out of the loop. I've recently started getting into Japanese wrestling thanks you youtube. Man Japanese women's wrestling is way better than I remember the WWE women's division being.

Hell yes, people who complain about Cole don't appreciate the sheer amount of practice that he has gotten over the years. Imagine if he had started off halfway decent with a load of promise!

Edited by Foil1212

I wish this was at least bi-weekly :(

Love the cast, guys!

I do NOT watch Wrestling, I LOVE this powerbombcast. And botchamania. And WWE quick looks.

Posted by MaxMikado

@griffinmills: Correct. Michael Cole merely does what he's told.

I was just talking about this in the lunch line at work today! The way Alex Riley talks about his past as a WWE wrestler is cringe worthy to the extreme. "You know, back when the Miz and I were headlining Wrestlemania.." stahp... STAHP!

Edited by TournamentOfHate

I had the pleasure to watch Kota Ibushi live 2 nights in a row like 5 years ago in ROH, he was so amazing. Plus his matches with Kenny Omega in DDT are beyond ridiculous.

For guys beating the crap out of each other, I've never seen anybody give Samoa Joe a beating like Kenta Kobashi did in ROH back in 2005(doesn't seem that long ago). But yeah those Misawa/Kobashi/Kawada matches from the 90s are like the pinnacle of wrestling. http://www.tagtele.com/videos/voir/82446/

JUMBO NO KACHI!

New Powerbombcast OHYEAAAAHAHHH!

Also agreed with @iamjohn: Cole is mediocre for sure, and a lot of his stuff is pretty cringe-inducing, but for the most part his obsession with Social Media (as well as, I'd imagine, the majority of the other stuff he says) is just something he's been instructed to do. Alex Riley makes even the Miz sound like a silver-tongued fox at times.

I did enjoy Cole's quote the other day, however, when he said to JBL, "See, I'll do anything to trend worldwide on Twitter." It was a perfect one-sentence summary of his everyday commentary style, and it came from the man's own mouth.

EDIT: I recommend checking out some videos of El Torito under his old ring name of Mascarita Dorada, which makes me hope we see a whole bunch more crazy stuff from him.

Also I totally follow along with the "We the people" thing cause it's a fun chant, and cause I enjoy their matches, even though I don't agree with Colter's motivation.

EDIT 2: I'm kinda surprised I've heard no-one (here or otherwise) talk about how the whole Wyatt "Devil" thing came straight after Heyman's whole segment at HIAC where he actively described himself, multiple times, as "The Devil". Not sure that's actually the way they'll take it, but it seems pretty plausible to me.

I want to see Face VinnyMac once again. This'd be the opening to do it. It doesn't have to stay (he's a fucking incredible heel, one of the best the company's seen), but it'd be nice to see it once more.

Been a long time since I watched wrestling on a consistent basis, but I love and appreciate how little it's changed. That said, I do still like the WWE games just because they're fun pick up and play time wasters.

Great podcast yet again guys. Oh and yes, I'm actually going to go on YouTube and watch some Japanese wrestling. Always enjoyed what I've seen of that stuff.

For a moment I was really confused was going on with their arms but then noticed her black arm bands disappeared in to the back ground blackness.

I think I originally uploaded that dumb/great Kane picture.

I also hope @mrjared is aware of the CHIKARA 24/7 Instagram Hardcore title.

I actually had a similar reaction. So I did. It's actually pretty damned watchable now, but I have to agree with them 100%: if you have Hulu +, the 90 minute version seems like THE ideal way to consume RAW.
