I have seen that photo already but that doesn't make it any less magical.

Where is that photo from?

I will not sit by and listen to people say that The Shield aren't totally awesome still. They had a rough few weeks during the summer, but ever since Goldust came back, they have been solid gold!

That picture may be my favorite thing ever.

I don't watch wrestling, but this continues to be the most entertaining thing.

@rorie the feed is working in pocketcasts for episode 3 of the powerbombcast but this episode isn't showing up for me.

Posted by Gyrfal

That shit looks like Edmund McMillen sitting with Leo Johnson from Twin Peaks.

Posted by Rorie

@mikecardii: It may be some kind of caching issue. I'd download it from here; let's give it a couple hours to see if the feed updates.

Man, TNA sounds like a bizarre train wreck.

The guy in that picture is cool looking. I wish I looked like him.

I'm sad there's no Jared here but man, can't get enough Powerbombcast

@turboman: Jeff wasn't kidding, that's so fucking terrible!

Disappointed by the lack of talk about THE WORLD'S GREATEST wrestling federation: THE VGCW!

Posted by Sammo21

So basically.......Dan makes apologies for the WWE and that's about it? He 's excited for everything all the time.

I feel like the more I learn about wrestling, the less it makes sense to me.

Still, this is entertaining to listen to. It's like peering into an alien civilization's strange and confusing culture.

I watched it on Monday for the first time in a long time (I guess I wanted to continue that streak of being completely unproductive and hating myself that I started over the holiday :P) and was just sort of baffled the entire time.

The powerbombcast is basically where I get all my wresling knowledge outside of that one N64 game I played and I feel the exact same way.

It's definitely nothing new. Last time I watched was a couple of years ago. I threw out my back at my parent's when I was visiting and it was winter in Washington State, so there wasn't MUCH to do but sit around in a slightly drunk haze and watch their on-demand cable which had TNA on it. Holy. Shit. Sting was dressing up/painting his face like the Dark Knight Joker and randomly attacking people (this was YEARS after Dark Knight had come out), D-Lo Brown was randomly getting attacked by Eric Young, I think, in a grocery store...the matches were solid, but the storyline stuff was UNwatchable. I'm going to guess things haven't improved? (Haven't listened yet)

Hahahaha yes, amazing choice for the image.

I have nothing to add except this was a delight to listen to and wish it happened more frequently.

The ONE and only ONE positive thing I can say about TNA is that they actually semi give a shit about their lady wrestlers. Like the matches the women put on in TNA are actually really good matches sometimes. Gail Kim and Awesome Kong had some matches in TNA that were pretty damn great.

Posted by SlightlyTriangularRectangle

Disappointed that Roman Reigns wasn't really discussed during the podcast. Given what happened at Survivor Series, it seems that WWE may have big plans for him.

Most people tend to target in on the worst and be negative all of the time about everything. Not everybody should try to be AVGN.

@danryckert: I guess I am on the other end of the pendulum swing. I think I like it so much that I am having a hard time finding interest in any angle they are pushing right now. I just got back into wrestling after a several year hiatus and now I am already ready to give it a break again :(

@turboman : I really enjoy wrestling and I think the WWE has a lot of talent on their roster, but unlike what Jim Ross said when asked I DO think the WWE is suffering from having 0 competition in the industry.

@rorie: I'm using Itunes, specifically and iPod touch. Nothings working. It says I'm subscribed to the feed via the link that you just gave me and signed in, but there is nothing in the feed to download. It was working fine a few months ago, but for some reason the last 3 or 4 months it hasn't been working at all. I'm having to manually download everything from the site and importing them into iTunes.

Also, for reference the link here on the site doesn't include the username.podcast@ part, just the regular URL.

It's such a bummer that guys like A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels have had to put up with TNA for so long. Them and Homicide should have had way better.

The problem with the Clothesline From Hell is that they called it a clothesline, a lot of people think like Jeff does because of that. Lariat on the other hand...

Yeah, you're right about WWE suffering from lack of competition because that is true because without true competition from other wrestling promotions, they tend to focus on trying to capture the casual audience and they try to create the illusion that their competition is NFL Monday Night Football. This kind of sucks because they tend to stray away from rewarding the real audiences by doing stuff like bringing in Michael Strahan last week and giving us "Raw Country" ft. some shitty band nobody cares about the week before. We'll probably continue this trend until WrestleMania.

They do have competition out there, but TNA has sunk into being a Shit Show since 2007/8. Ring of Honor used to be amazing, but now the psychology of wrestling matches have been thrown completely out the window and no one there knows how to cut a promo anymore. And Chikara....

sniff... how I miss you, Chikara.

I dunno. I'm still enjoying wrestling at the moment. The end of Survivor Series was so dead, it was tough to watch because the crowd were so clearly disinterested. Which is odd because if you're gonna go to an event, at least try to get into the match even if it's not something you're a big fan of - a good crowd can really help lift a match, and while it's certainly way easier to get pumped for something involving Punk, Bryan, or anyone else who doesn't have the personality of a potato, that doesn't mean you should just stop paying any mind the second they aren't around. It's not really the crowd's fault that the match was dull though.

That said, the 5-on-5 was pretty great. I really enjoyed everything about the pacing and the finish to that match. As for TNA, well I need to catch up because for the first time in an age, there were significant parts I couldn't watch. Specifically the Dixie Carter stuff, it was just so unbearably awkward to see her semi-heel her way through the whole thing. And I have a super-high tolerance for hot bullshit: for the record, I thought some of the stuff around the time @undeadpool was talking about was fantastic. Super dumb, for sure, but in a great way that I could really appreciate.

I dunno, maybe we just go into watching that show with the right attitude: specifically looking to have a laugh at the complete preposterousness of some of their dumbest angles. Regardless of anything else though, this cast was great. Thanks again guys!

EDIT: So the stuff that really keeps me watching WWE right now is the midcard stuff. Langston (fresh off that nasty facial scar from his emergency title match with Ambrose), Ziggler, Wyatt, the Shield, Punk, Bryan, Cesaro and even Swagger, and some of the tag team stuff. It's pretty wonderful.

And great to hear Jeff bigging up Eric Young. The run where they really made that guy into an off-the-wall loopjob (leading up over time to him marrying ODB in the ring, in a steel cage, and all stripping to their underwear halfway through - including the official) was a glorious segment. That guy does that stuff pretty well. Also I'm a big fan of ODB and her crazy persona, it feels notably different from the average diva angle.

Yeah, I don't get this shit at all, it's entertaining to listen to, but given how much everybody involved seems to think it's all terrible, I don't get why they aren't just marathoning Uwe Boll's filmography or something instead.

My claim-to-fame was ruined b/c Alex lost my name for the "What would you call the new championship belt?" question. Now how will I ever get my "15-minutes of fame"?

Edited by Undeadpool

@y2ken: I WANTED so badly to like it! But there was, as they said on the podcast, this sad, quiet desperation from all parties that let you know that, while management may not have known they were making crap, the talent surely did. And kitsch can't be made like that. Which is why I watch NXT. Where else could I find a model who takes selfies in mid-match or a drama king who literally sings his way to the ring?

I was one of those goth kids who thought crow-ripoff Sting was really cool. :(
