2009 games I haven't played, but should

List items

  • don't know why i haven't played uncharted yet. it started with how much i hated the shooting in the first one, but then for some reason i just kept buying old cheap games instead of picking this one up. oh and AC2, tons of AC2.

  • this was just too pricey for such a bizarre gamble of a game. i recently acquired it for $20 but i'm waiting to play it with a friend. maybe someday one of my friends will buy it....

  • i was really, really tempted to buy DJ Hero; more than once even. before it came out, i was all cavalier about it, talking about how i didn't need another peripheral game, how i didn't want to continue supporting activision, how i didn't care about DJ culture. but once i saw that box, i knew i needed. yet, i just couldn't, and continue to not be able to justify $120 on a game i can't play with friends. i only spent $40 more on my original rock band bundle that i still use to this day. when it's $40-60 with the controller, we'll talk, but until then, i say no to you DJ Hero. and no means no.

  • i have no real excuse for missing out on Shadow Complex other than a) it came out really near Trials HD which sucked up a huge amount of my time competing with friends and b) i can't really justify buying this and supporting orson scott card. that guy is a grade A douche.

  • partially because i never played dead space, and partially because it just didn't seem that original, i had little interest in checking out dead space: extraction. but come year end time, with top 10 lists, recommendations from friends, and a 2 hour game of the year podcast for gamefocus.ca; i'm pretty convinced that this 'guided experience' (*cough* on rails shooter *cough*) is a game worth checking out for both it's technological achievement in terms of graphics on the wii and it's heavily lauded gameplay.

  • just paid a dollar for the soundtrack and am entranced. had heard it was a great action/puzzle game and don't know why i don't already have it, besides my reluctance to pay $10 for an unknown quantity if it's a downloadable. $5 is easier to stomach.

  • this one came out during a busy time too and the demo did not convince me to spend $60 on it. i may pick it up now that it's $30 but only after i whittle my pile of unplayed games down a bit.

  • wrong game, wrong time and i was so burnt by phantom hourglass (and the painful recurring dungeon) that it's hard to take another chance on a handheld zelda. heck, i don't even get excited over ANY zelda's since the pair of bombs that were phantom hourglass and twilight princess. they may have killed my inner adventurer, at least for the moment.

  • another case of a game that came out right around the time i was playing like 3 others that better held my interest. i like the idea of UFC, but i just don't know if i'll have the patience to see it through. i did learn how to play Street Fighter this year though so who knows...

  • i flipped and flopped over this game and almost bought it numerous times.

    it's tim schafer

    - it's basically a console RTS

    it's full of awesome metalocalypse-style metal in-jokes

    - it has a bunch of stupid cameos

maybe i'll pick it up when it's sub-$30

  • this was just plain bad timing. this came out before PSN network cards were available everywhere and for some reason the PSN wouldn't recognize/accept my credit card at the time. i'm sure i'll get it sometime...

  • with this, my GRIN set will be pretty much complete. i already have terminator salvation, which is absolutely terrible, and bionic commando: rearmed, which is awesome, so picking this up will finish off that trilogy. it's supposed to be alright but i figure it will have a lot of the same combat and pacing problems as terminator. GRIN should never have attempted cutscenes or story.

snuck in my first playtime with shadow complex a day before the new year. the website i work for gifted me a code from the developer so i can play it (more or less) with impunity. but since i will end up playing it mostly in 2010, i'm going to leave it on my list of games i missed out on. starting it dec 31st hardly counts as playing it the year it came out...
