2022 Game List

List items

  • Its Elden Ring, what more needs said?

  • The follow up to the original Horizon, this game offers much more of the same. The game is very much a sequel that feels like a long DLC if they hand't improved the look so much. It is a very good looking game, and SSD load times certainly help. The combat is very similiar to the previous games, with most the weapons being available immediately and the only real difference being their various status effect. The combat and upgrade system are very similiar, but seem slightly refined to be a bit smoother, and the enemies weak spots more obvious. They encourage stealth and variation, but that said the combat is still fairly monotonous. The story is remains the amin draw, but they take their time doling it out. Overall a decent game.

  • A fun and inventive spin on the isometric adventure game. The game looks and plays very well, and uses and interesting mechanic of having to find game manual pages in order to learn how to play the game as well as the story.

  • This is a unique isometric dungeon crawler with an interesting cross ability mechanic. The game looks and play well, its is very forward and basic about what it is . A grindy crawler with extensive leveling up of various forms, characters, stats and abilities. The unique thing being able to swap certain abilities between characters. While the characters and abilities are all extremely varied, and it does the grind pretty well, at its heart its all grind. While the characters and side bars are occasionally charming and funny, its not enough for that and the nothing story to overcome the endless grind that at first was fun, but then begins to grate.

  • This is more of an interactive story than a game. The writing is fantastic and the limited art we get is also good, but there is no real game play. You have actionable story elements that are determined by Dice rolls, and there is limited progression and upgrade system to help you mold the story as you choose. If any of the limited elements weren't well done the game would suffer, but luckily they were not and it was highly enjoyable, yet short experience.

  • A unique take on a non active shooter. Though the mechanics are quite simple, the game eventually reveals a shocking amount of depth. It was surprisingly replayable for a game where all you do is walk around!

  • A follow up to the original with many of the same systems. In theory there is a lot to like about this game. It looks good, the controls work, there are a lot of upgrade systems and huge vertical world that is very open to exploration. The problem is there is no story whatsoever worth tracking and the combat is too repetitive. I kept trying to get into the game and there were times when things did click, but the game crashing help to offset the fun I was having. The progress was slow, and all the weapons felt similar. Upgrading weapons and skills felt like too slow of a drip and hid skills like sliding the felt they should have been included. Had the game not crashed multiple tmes and in multiple places I may have continued, but ended up dropping the game.

  • A good looking an unique game where you play as a lost cat. The game revolves around exploration of a "dead" robot city and exploring the way to get back to the surface. You meet interesting characters, hear their story and platform around. There are a bunch of collectibles, and light puzzles to solve. Its a nice tight package with some heart, though I felt it went on slightly too long. The ending was satisfying though and well worth playing.

  • Exactly as it sounds. This was not for me, it felt like too much work and was not as relaxing/enjoyable as Id hoped. Will possibly give another try.

  • A throwback Pikmin style platformer. This game wears its heart on its sleeve, its not deceptive and not doing anything new. It does what it does extremely well through. The controls are tight, the onboarding is simple and steady and at no point are you really confused. The small person in a normal world is fantastically done,. and the bug citizens are often funny. The true joy was exploring the world using the nice platforming controls. A small bite that didnt overstay its welcome.

  • A snappy first person puzzle shooter. A fairly unique game that is an FPS, but really it is about puzzle solving, but still requiring quick reflexes and creative thinking. The story and dialouge can be a bit cringy, but the amazing artwork and incredible gameplay more than make up for any shortcomings.

  • Atmosphere Atmosphere Atmosphere. Gameplay and intruge, not so much. After playing this game for time with unclear directions and lackluster gameplay, I decided to give up the game. The setting was intriguing enough that I did want to see where things went, so I streamed a playthrough. While interesting, I definitely feel this was the correct decision rather than slogging through slow and repetitious gameplay.
