Calling for a comeback, baby

We've got new games out all the time: new heroes, new villains, new worlds. It's no surprise that some games have fallen by the wayside. However with some of our old favourites now being revamped and brought back for us all to enjoy, maybe it's time for some of these characters to step out of the shadows for a return.

List items

  • The Ninja of the Nth Dimension. Zool was a fantastic, colorful game where you traversed a number of worlds of a popular theme. I'd love to see this remade, perhaps in a cel-shaded style (not something I often advocate). Might be one of those few games that would truly work with Sponsorship too... replace the Chupa Chups and Coca Cola in the game with new sponsors (or the old ones if they wanted). I can picture this sort of thing being done by Mountain Dew.

  • Back when I first started gaming, Dizzy was the big mascot character that endeared himself to me, and a great deal of others. My best friend was a huge fan of the Yolkfolk, and had characters toys of all of them.

Dizzy was a walking egg, who ended up traversing worlds to do things like fight wizards, dragons, and rescue princesses. Game mechanics were simple, you'd find an item, and take it somewhere to do something, such as a raincoat so that you could walk through rain (amazingly) followed by a clove of garlic to kill a vampire bat. Carrying only one of these things at a time, Dizzy was to find ways through some brilliant puzzles, which were simultaneously simple and difficult: I don't know how many times that vampire killed me, simply because I'd forget to pickup the garlic, and the raincoat doesn't protect against bites.

I'm not sure how I'd like to see this... perhaps the simplicity would mean that a Kinect voice-only game could be done. That way if the Kinect failed you with timing, it would add an air of nostalgia to the game.
