My favorite ten games of 2013. Other good games I played were F1 2013, Wind Waker HD, A Link Between Worlds, and Assassin's Creed 4, but I ended up liking these more.

List items

  • My favorite game so far on the 3DS, and my first Fire Emblem game. The strategy is often brutal, and the characters are memorable and hilarious. Some of the most fun I've had with a game in a long time, and I was glued to the 3DS for several weeks because of Fire Emblem.

  • PC version. I finished this one in few sittings, and while not as funny as the Third, I think it's generally more FUN. The superpowers were very fun to use, and going back to other open world games makes the others feel tedious now. Yeah, there were a few jokes that weren't as funny this time around, but there were plenty of others that were genuinely great.

  • PC version. Really great action/adventure game, great graphics and sound design. Does everything right and has compelling gameplay. Just really fun to play.

  • Best Mario since SM64, in my opinion. I was planted in my seat after work for days unlocking everything the game had to offer.

  • PC version. A great emotional and beautiful ride that reminded me why Journey was great last year.

  • PC version. Very absorbing world the developer created here, all told from within a large house. This one evokes emotions few games do these days.

  • PC version. A fun game and story. It's popular to shun this one now, but it was a fun time when I played it several months ago.

  • The PC version came out this year, and I played a cat-shit-ton of it this year, bought myself an EightArc stick to go with it. It made me appreciate fighting games again.

  • Played this one in December finally and loved it. The rules in Antichamber are not necessarily intuitive, but once you learn them the game is very satisfying.

  • Love this series, and this is best one of the bunch in my opinion. It's easier to get into and still a challenge later on. I'm a sucker for turn-based RPGs and I love the cartography aspect of the Etrian Odyssey series.
