EDIT: PC has been made. may post images of it when I get home.

So my PC is about 3 years old, So I think it is time for a new PC. Here is a list of what think I am going to get. I would like some feed back on what I have picked and if there is anything I should go for. Or if there is a better component that I don't know of.

What do you need 16gb for? 8gb is more than you would need for a gaming rig, get this instead.

Apart from that it is a really well spec'd rig. I like it.

Besides the ram, you can get away with less, everything looks quite good. The pc will last you.

@AlexW00d: Well it is not pissing away, It is investing as I am going to be using it for a few years.
@HitmanAgent47:@TheKeyboardDemon:  3d modeling and HD video editing = all the ram I can get, but the rig has changed a bit now. Like I am going to go for 2 GTX 570s in SLi and maybe getting a SSD.

I  think that 2x 570's would do more for video editing than a single 580. 2x 570's would give you 960 CUDA cores while the 580 on its own only has 512. It would rock for gaming too!

There are PCIe based SSDs that would be a really good option, it is actually 2 SSDs in a RAID 0 configuration and these

are bootable as well whic make them ideal as they don't need cables to attatch the drives to your mobo, take a loot at this, but we warned performance like this is not cheap. There's a review here.

Some of that stuff is slightly cheaper on OverClockers UK. A lot of money to spend.

I got the impression he wanted to buy everything in 1 place, he didn't say that but all his links are for Scan.I use both Overclockers and Scan, they both tend to be very close in price.

I wish I had money for a new PC. Mines been going through its death throws for a year or so now. I hate being unemployed.

Unemployed= All the time in the world to enjoy games, but you can't afford to buy any to enjoy them.

Employed = Being able to buy every thing you want, but never having the time to enjoy them.

When Starcraft 2, Knights of the Old Republic in September, and Elder Scrolls V November it will be time for me to replace my 5 year old rig from Dell (which was high-end at the time). It has served me well and I have some great gaming memories with the machine. I'm trying to decide if I should build my own or just pussy out and order a pre-built rig from Dell (since I have an account with them) or a site like ibuypower.com. I've never built a PC before because of the intimidation involved and am afraid I'll screw something up royally.

I like that part too, the build up to picking the final config, the anticipation, and then getting the parts. Sometimes I think the rest is a bit of a let down, but I get just as excited helping other people pick parts as I do picking parts for my own rig!

The last (and most important) parts for my new PC should be arriving today, I'm pretty excited to assemble it on sunday.

But wow, even for an editing machine that's a lot of ram. I plan on using my rig mostly for gaming, but if I can get OS X running on it, it'll be my new Final Cut machine.

Oh right something you should know, if you overclock the gtx 570, it actually fries very easily. I honestly was thinking about sli that, but something to do with the vrm which has less than the gtx 580. That's probally a safer card to get, it can't hand a overclock due to the design. It's something to keep in mind.

I use an SSD for my operating system drive, but for games I use a seperate 1tb wd drive. Install the operating system in the SSD and other stuff in the second hardrive if you are going that route.

I'd probably get two 560's instead considering how well SLI/Crossfire seems to scale these days.
