FunnerGod: Best of 2010

  • How can a game so incredibly buggy still be so incredible. I lost a companion for hours, finally had to open my command line to get him back, it's been patched now, but it doesn't make me like it any more, it's still just amazing, no matter what. Two words: Ballistic Fist.

  • Revolutionizes open-world traversal. Add the infinite ammo on whirlybirds and aeroplanes, and it's just about the best thing ever.

  • I had no faith in this game. Loved the first BioShock and just couldn't believe that a sequel made from a different studio would be as good. To my surprise, chagrin even, the game improved so much on the mechanics (if not the narrative) that it turned into one of the more fun games to play this year. Add to that the amazing narrative in the DLC Minerva's Den, and you have a very strong game that deserves attention from every serious gamer. Pro Tip: Play it on PC, it's cheap, no load times, and runs great.

  • Have you played this game? You probably should. It's most easily comparable to the GTA series, obviously, but it's so different, so unique, so fantastic. The moral side, though so commonly done in games, really added something to the game, breaking down the ludonarrative dissonance so common in other Rockstar games.

  • Limbo seems to get off on being obtuse. From the name to the art style to the subject matter, so much _can_ be inferred about this game, but, with no narrative or dialogue, it's all just that, inference. Despite that, though, the gameplay, the atmosphere, and the art style all come together to make a captivating, truly awesome game. A little full of itself? Sure. But that shouldn't take away from anyone's enjoyment.
