Also I'm going to throw a potential wildcard out there, I'm convinced that Alex will love Woolly World (that game is really, really good) and if he fights hard enough for it, it might make the top 10 (though its equally likely that he will throw it under the bus in exchange for Splatoon on the top 10).
Has ANYONE on the crew actually finished The Witcher 3? I hope Hearts of Stone reminds them to pick it up again (Dan seems like the most likely candidate, hopefully also Austin if he hasn't finished it, I don't recall if they've ever talked about it on the Beastcast). Then it might actually stand a chance being in fresh memory.
I think the constant barrage of "Cowboy Bebop is the best" whenever anime is discussed is doing the medium a huge disservice. I mean, yeah, its a good show, but personally I probably would not put it in my top 50, and also rate both Michiko to Hatchin (more people need to see this, seriously) and Samurai Champloo higher. It is, however, an excellent entry point for western audiences, but not really a showcase of anime at its most anime.
In the "ridiculous nonsense" category I will always rate Code Geass very highly. If you think about it too hard the plot falls apart (especially the second season) but the way it always raises the stakes is very impressive and it is pretty much the rollercoaster ride to end all rollercoaster rides. Even MGS pales in comparision to its more over the top moments.
I've always taken for granted that Alex will review it at some point after E3. They should have a proper review on the site of a game that will be a prominent bullet point in the GOTY discussions.
The current studio has always seemed a bit weird to me, like they just dumped all their stuff in some corridor. Wastly prefer the studio Gamespot uses for the lobby, so I guess a more purpose built and slick environment is what I want.
Both Samurai Champloo and Michiko to Hatchin are better than Bebop in my book, but you could also watch Space Dandy and perhaps maybe Planetes for other episodic science fiction shows. I also felt that Shingeki no Bahamut tried to be like Champloo in a lot of ways, but personally I didn't love it.
