2019 Games of the Year

List items

  • This game nails the sense of wonder of outer space and the exploration of it better than pretty much any movie that has come out on the subject in the last few decades. It kind of takes a bit of Kerbal Space Program levels of understanding of motion in null gravity and Ender's Game understanding of "Which way is down?"

  • I haven't completely this game, yet, but the setting is extremely effective and the game feel is leagues above most if not everything this year, regardless of the near necessity for a 60FPS system to get the precision to succeed against bosses.

  • Great characters throughout. Not many games make me smile but Outer Worlds does.

  • I like hiking and walking in real life and this nails the sensation better than BOTW did.

  • I hadn't fired up this game in a while and came back for the holidays and it pulled me back in with its solid combat and notable improvements to inventory management and loot table systems. I miss the setting of NYC but we'll be getting it in a few weeks as part of the final episode, so that's something to look forward to along with whatever they've got in the hopper for PVP and beyond.

  • I'm just impressed how they could make Unreal Engine look like this.

  • Strategy games stress me out. This game didn't help that but its one of the most feel good, enjoyable games out this year.

  • Great feeling shooter. my favorite BR game.

  • A game many people didn't really want, and kind of throws in question what the next BJ Blasko game will even look like, but its a great experimentation and continuation of the small addendum games a la The Old Blood.

  • This game exists to evoke the feeling of wistfulness about the age of server browser based online shooters. For those who don't know, this game won't help understand the time, but if you know, you know.

  • Joyously goofy game.

  • I need to finish this one. Its all the things I love about adventure games with a splash of wonderful high adventure story and mystery.

  • Work break game of the year. Frequently enough at work whoever had a switch at my office would come together to sling bananas and blue shell each other for an hour or so. Great fun. we even did a little league for a while. Hears to more of that next year.
