Sure I won 3 out of 5 placement matches, but that doesn't mean I have SKILL.  Two of them were one using  the trick where you build a pylon in the enemies base, then start mass producing Photon Cannons.  The third win was "fair and square" and I won using a squadron of Vikings. 
 
But yeah, I don't think I should be in the Gold League. We'll see how long this silliness lasts before I'm in Copper where I belong. I'm expecting to be thoroughly trounced in the next proper match.

One of my friends from work got placed in Gold after his placements as well. Funnily enough, he also feels he doesn't belong because he's apparently gotten "destroyed" in his last few games (he likes to go Immortal/Void Rays, apparently that's what got him into Gold in the first place).
 
But yeah, if you're not meant to be there they'll move you sooner or later. Though to be honest, Gold isn't that tough of a league if you think about it. It's essentially middle ground, as there's two leagues above and below it. Have confidence in yourself, I'm sure you'll do well.

I have found that generally the system is pretty good in placing people within +/- a league of where they deserve to be.  If you are in Gold its probable that you deserve to be there.  Take credit!

Well if it's in the game it's "fair" but I still feel dirty for doing it

did the same thing, beat three guys in gold and now getting rocked.  Worse is my 2v2 placement because I play with my buddy who plays platinum all the time and rocks it, got one more placement to go and I'm kinda worried.

Well good to know that there are other cannon rushers out there.  It makes me feel bad to use it because it's such a cheap trick. But on the other hand, if the enemy knows what he's doing he'll counteract it, right?

Nothing wrong with proxy pylons and cannons, it works sometimes.  Nothing is cheap when it works, everything can be countered afterall.   
 
I get a gleeful joy out of proxy hatches.
