This looks bad, I thought it was a toothpaste commercial

I just caught the end of this commercial and the whole time Im thinking, what bad product are they trying to sell.  The acting is bad, the shaky cam, the world map in the background, everything seemed so cliche.  Then it was like, "no this is a real show".  I don't think I will be watching

Lol yeah, thats some pretty horrible acting and directing! So fucking cliche.
 
I see how you could expect that to be a joke commercial for some product or something. Dismal failure incoming!

It says HBO in the description. Seems hard to believe given their stuff is normally very high quality, but as a Brit maybe we only see the very best HBO stuff?

You are correct. HBO wouldn't air this shit. It's fake. Look at the other videos posted by that "spmedia" user.

Judging from the other videos that user has uploaded, they do indeed make real commercials. But they do a lot of ads for some business called King Stahlman blah blah. This must have been some sort of viral marketing attempt for that company.

Yeah actually reading it the youtube description it says it was a Superbowl Commercial, which makes me think that yeah, its some sort of marketing thing.  But it was JUST on. I don't know what to believe now. I mean the guy has THE LIST! haha

I've seen some bad acting in my time. 
Napoleon Dynamite, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, 24, Supernatural, True Blood or whatever it's called.. 
And this seems like super hollywood compared to that. Now that's still bad but still
