  • A sequel greater than the original on all levels. So good in fact, it could've been a second sequel to the first Mass Effect, but lucky for us it's only the second game. It's hard to find any fault with this game, from the amazing story, really fun gameplay, and graphics that treaded the photorealism line in just the right way. There are few games in this world longer than 50 hours that I wanted to start playing again right after I beat it.

  • A great sequel that no one realized was actually a sequel. Took a good formula and added some nice tweaks that made it even better. The story furthered the mythology in new ways that had me ready for more at every turn. Seldom do I play open world sort of games where I'll gladly chase down every side quest because I want to save the story elements for last so that the experience won't end too soon. Add on some unique and fun multiplayer and you have a really great game.

  • Unique, beautiful, tactile, brain-teasing, and disturbing all at once. Limbo is a game with a style all its own. There's nothing else out there like this. Every little detail was extremely well thought out and made this one of the best games all year to wait until night time, turn off all the lights and play. There's something to be said for a game that doesn't worry about only being a couple hours long. A must play for Xbox owners.

  • One of the most addictive games on the DS, and one of the few puzzle games where I'd go back and replay every single last one. Pressed all my buttons in just the right ways. There are few things on the DS more satisfying than chipping away at 3D pixelated shapes until they're colored in and animated. Sequel. Now.

  • A delightful, adorable and extremely fun to play. Seems like (no pun intended) it would owe everything to Little Big Planet, but Epic Yarn goes all in with its visual style and it confounds the senses the first time you see it. It's not often that I look at a game and question how it could possibly be real, but Kirby Epic Yarn made me think that Nintendo made an animated stop motion game. Not challenging in the slightest, but worthy of notice.

  • Plays like an introduction to RPGs, but is full of fun and charm. The recreation of the nostalgia of being a kid during Halloween is palpable. A lot of fun with some funny dialogue, and some costumes worthy of the word "epic." Filled to the brim with personality and joy.

  • Who would've thought they could make Pac-Man a nearly orgasmic experience? Treads the line of course memorization and lightning fast reflexes well enough that every play feel different. I never thought eating ghosts could be so exhilarating and exciting. I just wish those achievements were more difficult to get.

  • Okay, so Alan Wake the character is a total douche, but the game had a great and interesting story. The gameplay got a little old by the end and also the last fourth was too long, but it was still a lot of fun. Lots of style and atmosphere in this game.

  • It's more of the same but taken to the next level in terms of presentation. The story isn't the most sophisticated in the world, and the player probably realized that Kratos is really more of a villain in this whole story. Except for that whole redemption ending thing. Still, it was a damn pretty game.

  • Okay, so it was really linear and it took 25 hours to get it to open up. But I actually thought that the character moments in the first 25 hours were the best. Some very ballsy and interesting things done with the combat that made for some really epic and exciting battles. Of course, totally gorgeous to look at. I just wish I understood what the hell happened.
