It is capable of taking down multiple enemies at the same time and it is effective against armor, shields, and biotic barriers. Even though it is the first heavy weapon acquired during the game, it remains useful throughout the entire game with a very high rate of accurate fire and somewhat high damage. It also deals splash damage that makes it good for taking down small groups of enemies at the same time.
