Top 10 Best Games (Xbox 360)

This is my personal list of the best games released for the Xbox 360.

It's no doubt that the Xbox 360 was one of the most of influential consoles that defined a whole generation of gamers, including myself. I closely regard the 360 as one of my favourite consoles, and as such I've amassed an extensive library of games for the system (100+ in total). In no particular order, here is a definitive list of my all-time favourite games for the Xbox 360.

List items

  • A worthy successor to recent entries in the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto IV provides the raunchy, offensive humor and style of previous games, yet primarily focuses on a migrant's perspective on the American Dream - and how it affects the people around them. GTA IV has the best gameplay, writing and graphics in the series by far (better than its sequel in my opinion) and also has some really strong expansion packs that boast more things for the player to interact with.

I've been with this game since soon after it first came out, and have a strong nostalgic bond with both this game and its two expansion DLC packs. It's not a game I play as often as I used to, but I love to return to Liberty City every now and then.

  • One of my most played games on the Xbox 360 is without a doubt this one. Minecraft is one of those games that I typically prefer to play solo, mainly to build and craft my own worlds to find myself lost in for hours.

I've been an ardent Minecraft fan since 2012, and regularly find myself playing the 360 version over other versions. Especially since I don't own a gaming PC and honestly can't stand Bedrock on modern consoles.

  • In terms of role-playing games, Fable II is one of the better games out on the Xbox 360. Particularly because you can play the game as anyone you want to be, no strings attached. Want to be an evil comic book villain, or an altruistic hero? It's entirely up to you.

When I first played Fable II in 2017, I was blown away with how much of an improvement it was over the original. While not a perfect game by any means, there's plenty to keep coming back to in the land of Albion.

  • One of the killer apps for the Xbox 360, and a considerable chart-topper at that, Halo 3 is a clear-cut example of a blockbuster game. Not only was the marketing campaign for this game very bold and epic, but so too was the gameplay, music score and storyline - which ties everything from the preceding Halo games so incredibly well.

I first played this game in 2018 and honestly didn't appreciate it all that much, but as the years went on and I revisited this game on the Halo: Master Chief Collection (and played Halo: CE and 2 for the first time), I slowly discovered that I missed out on one of the greatest game sagas ever.

  • You might start noticing a pattern of open-world / sandbox titles on this list, and that is no coincidence; I love these games the most, and Crackdown is no exception. Not only was this game extremely influential to other open-world games, Crackdown also had a unique visual style which was aided by its chaotic gameplay.

My first experiences with Crackdown were just after game first released in 2007, and I have had fond memories of this game ever since. Every now and then, I like to come back to wipe out Pacific City's gangs.

  • Although close in comparison to games such as GTA IV and Crackdown, Saints Row 2 was admittedly just as fun as its rivals set out to be. The game offers a wide variety of stuff for you to do, and has the best customization features in the series to date.

I unintentionally picked up this game in late 2015, after the guy at my local game store mistook the original Saints Row with this game. Nevertheless, playing Saints Row 2 is an absolute blast and it made me realize how special sandbox games are.

  • A cult classic among Capcom's library, Dead Rising is a tough and enduring challenge to beat, but highly enjoyable despite the fact. Beneath the game's predominantly no-nonsense storyline is a wacky and anarchic beat-em-up full of zombies and psychopaths!

Being the earliest 360 game I ever played, Dead Rising holds a very special place in my heart and was a fantastic proof of concept.
