GOTY 2011

List items

  • From Software is now my favorite game company, I can't tell you how happy I am that Souls is now an established series. No other games gives me the pure rush that this game does. It's hard but the level design and just how interesting the story you get from paying attention to your surroundings will drive you too see it every last bit of it.

  • I can't think of any term that fits Bastion better than "soul food".

  • Man, just fucking do what you wanna do. You can go to bard college or save the world from dragons. I never played this game for a short amount of time, they were always at least 3 hour sessions.

  • This is the fighting game I want everyone to play for the next few years, okay? Is that alright with y'all? The fact that you won't win against someone who knows the game better than you due to the complete and total lack of comeback mechanics makes the elitist prick inside of me all giddy.

  • Mortal Kombat isn't a fighting I particularly enjoy playing at a competitive level, but it sets the new standard for single-player content in a fighting game. They put a lot of heart into that story mode, god damn.

  • Silky smooth platforming with the best 2D visuals from this year. There's a cheat code to play as Teki Latex too, but only I know it.

  • Not much to say about this one, it improves over the first in every area, and is just fucking solid.

  • Team Bondi nailed the Noir feel throughout the entire games, it's a shame we probably won't seen another adventure game like this again in the near future.

  • Some of the level design was extremely dated and it's definitely case of style over substance, but I would play it all over again for the set pieces and humor. Taste my big boner.

  • Love the setting and how you can take your own approach to all of the games scenarios. Them boss fights were total butt though.

  • Feels like a grimdark old-school N64 platformer. Surreal levels and pretty dresses sold me on this game.

  • Really enjoyed the way this game makes you deal with the grey areas in relationships. It kinda fell apart at the end there, but I really enjoyed the experimenting this game did.
