I wonder if there was an idea to add more personality and life to these Siege characters with more fleshed out story & cutscenes or even just some banter during missions. Like even L4D gave those characters personalities and there was no story!
I do hope a shift toward more consumer-friendly refund policies taps the brakes on the day-one / post-release patch this industry has been using as a crutch for so long now. "Thanks for buying our broken product we rushed out the door. It will be fixed soon, we promise."
Add me to the "maybe I'll check out the single player someday" list. I don't have huge love for loot games to start off with, but yeah the multiplayer does just kinda ... seem to be there, if you want it. Which is odd 'cause that seems like the entire reason this game exists. I too wonder if there was a big change during development?
I'm catching up on Demo Derby and this has thankfully been one of the better non-Underground episodes after a few rather dull ones. But boy, Ben really quit that Black Hawk Down game after about 60 seconds. I know a lot of these games aren't great, but why even sit in on this feature that's all about diving into the past, warts and all, if you hardly even bother? Hopefully the next few have a bit more energy.
I do fear their quality is going to move further into the 'it's worth playing on gamepass' category rather than us talking about industry leading products.
I've worried about this since listening to the bombcast discussion on Crackdown 3. I believe Jason said something along the lines of "I don't want this game to just be a value-add for Game Pass" and now I've started viewing a lot of what Microsoft is offering through that lense.
Game Pass is great if you have even a passing interest in the games it has to offer; it really is fulfilling the 'Netflix of games' idea. But like Netflix you really need to maintain a solid pace of new quality content that keeps you sticking around before you find yourself wondering "Why do I still have this?" The longevity of games versus shows & movies makes that a bit different sure, but it's definitely something I've been thinking about.
@goosemunch: Good lord. I watched Jeff play the top left one (before bailing as he couldn't match with any other players) and I thought that one was this one. What's the bottom one? Is that actually Fortnight? I hate to come off so snide about art design and UI, but c'mon y'all.
Skip ahead a good 10-15 minutes into this video. I don't know why but Brad just kinda runs around and doesn't really get started saying or doing much until then. Maybe it was just me.
Is it strange that I'm more interested in this game now after watching this video, where before my feelings were basically "ew get it away from me"?
Maybe it is because I am someone who enjoys American Truck Simulator and No Man's Sky. Like, I can enjoy doing repetitive things if the act of doing said thing is fulfilling. I don't really care about building a cooler better base in NMS or getting a bigger truck in ATS, I just like the functional activities involved.
Basically, if I can be convinced that delivering pizza in post-apocalyptic America is fun to do, I kinda don't care how weird and dumb the story is.
