Hearing Jeff exclaim that 2016 has been a great year for video games has led me to the conclusion that maybe I just don't like video games as much as I used to because 2016 has been very underwhelming to me.
At around this point in the life cycle of the old consoles we had Gears of War, Bioshock, COD4, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed. All huge new franchises that defined those consoles. (Yes I'm counting Modern Warfare as the beginning of a new franchise).
Here we are three years into these new consoles and they have yet to deliver anything like those old consoles. Yes there are some good games out for the PS4 and Xbox One but there's no equivalent of Bioshock, or Mass Effect, or Modern Warfare. I feel like I'm still waiting for this generation to start.
I'm by no means a big fan of the Olympics but hearing Jeff and the gang talk so dismissively of them really annoyed the hell out of me. "I didn't even know they were on," somebody said. Are you kidding me? Have you been living in a cave for the last two plus weeks? Even if you don't watch TV the coverage was inescapable all over the internet.
"The prime time coverage was boring", another said. Yes watching Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Michael Phelps et al, plus the entire women's gymnastics team break world records, make history and win medal after medal was a real snooze fest. Usain Bolt won another gold? Yawn!
I think Jeff said there should be an app where you can watch all the sporting events. Err...there was one, wasn't there? Sure the NBC TV coverage was bad but I heard nothing but good things about the streaming content.
I completely agree. I don't care much about the Olympics but it did annoy me that they were so dismissive of it. You would have to be living in a cave with a blindfold on to realize the Olympics weren't happening. And Jeff's "Who the fuck watches the Olympics?", I don't know, millions of people?
The NBC app does have every event and it's pretty easy to watch. Just scroll to the bottom of their app, find the type of event you want, and it has recordings of all the events. I agree with Drew that it can be a pain to find the exact event you want when men's/women's events are grouped together. I also had issues with commercials coming on whenever they wanted.
I have no interest in the swimming, running, or gymnastics events they put on TV, but I did watch the shooting ones and thought they were interesting. Most of them were also less than an hour long.
Glad I'm not the only one that was annoyed. And yeah I get that the ratings were down for this years Olympics but c'mon literally millions and millions of people around the world are watching the Olympics. Let's not act like nobody is watching.

It's so weird that they never actually said what Booger Sugar is, but as soon as Bam Margera asked for some in a convenience store at midnight I immediately knew.

What timezone would this work for? If it's 11AM Pacific that's still going to be the middle of the day in the U.S. no matter where you are. I'm on the east coast so it'll be live from 2:00 PM to 5:00ish?
I'm not saying they shouldn't do it. It would just be a surprise to me if there was a big audience for the live show. I'm guessing more people will watch it after it's been archived.
This may come as a shock to you, but not everyone lives in the US.
Awesome though I hope this doesn't go the way of beyond where they start talking about visual things because I won't have time to watch these. Sticken with the audio
