2020 Games and Visual Novels Completed

I am hoping to finish off a lot of the games I started but put on standstill. I would also like to clean up more of my Steam Library and other consoles. Hopefully I make some good progress. I also hope everyone else gets to complete their wishlist as well.

Galaxy Girls (Blossoms Bloom Brightest?):

A fairly decent and enjoyable Yuri visual novel that explore the connection of strangers on a space voyage.

Cons:

I usually play visual novels or games by doing the path of the characters I do not like that much first and then playing the ones I enjoy last. This kind of leaves a good impression on me and may cause some bias to my reviews, however I think it is more enjoyable this way. Yet, in order to fully explore the game you kind of have to do the events in order from the paths that the authors set out for you. This is not an issue for people not interested in achievements, however for people who want all the content and dont want to follow a set order, this may seem a bit odd for a choice. It was not a big issue for me, however I just kind of wish I could make my own order for these kinds of games.

The author could have explore more of each characters talents and abilities a little more. There are a few moments where two of the characters get their own scene for their special talent, but the others are kind of ignored and never really explained much. This could have led to some interesting ideas that could have given the reader some more to think about.

Pros:

The artwork is not terrible and enjoyable to look at. It is a little lacking, but this is also an older visual novel that does not use a lot of the current VN standards. I do enjoy the look and the chibis are also very cute. The music fits with the situation as well, but it a little lacking sometimes. I do think that they did their best with a limited budget or limited resources.

They have some enjoyable Yuri moments and do not go overboard. The scenes are tasteful and still add to the story and context. I usually worry about some of the content these Yuri VNs will provide, however, this one did a decent job at not over bearing the player with the fan service.

All in all, this is a decent Yuri VN that players may be willing to give a try and it does not push players to go too deep into sexual content. There will probably be some players who may not be interested in this, but it would not hurt to at least read the Kotoha path which provides the most information and seems to be the true path.

Null and Peta - Invasion of the Bug Queen -

A game about removing computer bugs that is a little buggy, or just awkward.

Cons:

This seems to be a game based off an anime. While this is not an issue, usually games based off movies or shows or video series are usually not very good. I have not seen the anime, but I think the team might be better at making film production than games. I can not say the game is completely terrible since there are some enjoyable moments and you can kind of break the game to improve your success. It just does not seem like it would be very enjoyable unless you were a fan or just someone who might be interested in this kind of game.

The text is hard to read since it was not properly aligned in the text boxes when translating. Now I do know that there is a way to download the proper text so that the text fits, but this is a sign of rushed work or even just laziness. It is not completely terrible and I was able to read most of the text, but there is quite a lot of "out of box" text that ruins the story and visual of the game.

The music seems to be a little out of place. Some of the music matches the location that you are in, but other areas have music that does not seem to work with the area. I feel like the music was decent for the first area to try and get players interested in the game and then the developers did not know what to use after that. Most of it just seems to be randomly picked for some reason and does not give the proper vibe of the area. However, I did kind of enjoy some of the songs and thought they were decently made.

The equipment options are not very good. It would have been nice to be able to equip all items at once instead of having to equip a different item for each situation. This would make sense for different items on each different body part, but when you have three sets of boots and each one does a different things, this would be easier to work with if the better versions also protected from what the past versions protected from. So instead of one protecting against spikes, it would protect against spikes and fire. Yet, this game makes the player change for each hazard encountered. Also an item that shows invisible enemies and you have to unequip it to advance and encounter invisible enemies is not very enjoyable.

Pros:

The artwork is fairly decent and sort of fits the anime style that the game is base off of. They even have special events that are connected to certain random object in the game, and these items have a unique art style to themselves. I actually missed a few because the unique events almost matched the anime artstyle. However, I did enjoy the look and thought it fit my usual cutesy, colorful, anime style I like.

The game is not awfully hard. It does have a few hard moment, but once you know what to do and which items and weapons to use, then you will have an easier time. I was pretty much destroying bosses in a matter of seconds with the main characters special ability. There are harder difficulties that may make things harder for players who want that, but I did not care much to explore those options myself.

This is a game adapted from an anime or connected to an anime, that does not seem to work as well as the developers had hoped. It is very lacking and have quite a few problems. I am sure Fans of the anime will enjoy the game and understand the story more, but this is not really something many other people will enjoy trying.

List items

  • The Castlevania Legends find a way to bring their love for their genera back to life in a new perspective and try to encourage a new generation of gamers to learn about some of the more enjoyable classics.

    Cons:

I am not good with these kinds of games. I usually want to unlock all chest and items in an area before I move on, however these games are made so you have to backtrack to unlock new gear, weapons, areas and bosses. It took me some time to get into that mind set so that I could continue to play through the game, however I still struggled. There were times I got lost and was running around confused at what to do and where to go only for my memory of early sections to forget that I did have paths that I could take. These are definitely games where having markers, which this game has, will be vital to exploration and understanding how to advance. That is just an issue with me and other gamers may not have a problem with this. Yet, there could be other like me who will get lost or not know. While we live in an internet world, not everyone has access and some people like to play through games without help if they can.

They are constantly updating the game, which is actually a good thing. They are still adding backer requests and content that they promised. The problem is that these constant updates can cause issues with the current game. I ended up playing during a slightly bad patch that caused the game to crash or be buggy. This is the first time I have had a PS4 game crash on me. There were times I could not get items since they fell into walls or floors and I had to leave them behind. There was also short pauses when I attacked enemies that would cause problems with my playing. Again, the game is constantly patched so these issues have be mostly resolved and others may occur, however that is something that happens as you try to make the game players are expecting. No game is perfect and you will always find these problems. Luckily they are very fast at working to fix things and want players to have the best time they can.

    Pros:

This game is very well done. The art style still fits that old Victorian style and the music fits well for the atmosphere. The creators really did think very hard about how everything should look, what kinds of sounds should be placed into the game and how the music should fit for each new area. They really gave players a game that they can explore and play multiple times while having a differet experience each time. There are very few bad things I can say about this game and I am glad I could actually play it and enjoy it. It does take some getting use to, however this game is so well done that players will be able to adjust to the changes fast and easily.

There is a variety of customization that allows players to create the character they want and their own playstyle. Most items need to be collected, but once you do get them you can change your character to your liking. I did not play the new game plus content, but it seems that you should be able to have almost all your customizables so that you can play the whole game how you want. The various weapons and armor also add to each players customization. I played mostly with Katanas and swords, but there are many other weapons that players can enjoy using. It is always nice to be able to customize in games so that players can feel more attached to their game with their own creativity.

    Final Thoughts:

This is clearly a game done by the Castlevania Legends and they put as much love and detail into their game to make sure players would be happy. I have not played many of these games so I do not know how this one compares to the others, but I do feel that they put a lot of effort into making a game many people can get into. I may have had some hard moments, that are not entirely the game or the developers fault, yet I enjoyed almost my whole experience. Sure you will find some issues with the game, but usually these issues are minor and can be forgotten after playing more of the game. This is definitely a game worth trying and if you want to wait for more of the content to be put into the game then that is fine as well. The game as of now is already very good and most of the add ons just seem to be more stuff that will allow players to enjoy the game in a different way.

  • This is one of those weird Visual Novels that has a name that does not entirely fit the story or could even lead the reader to think that the story is about something else.

    Cons:

The story can take a while to get started and may cause readers to lose interest before they start getting into the good parts of the story. The author put a lot of detail into many parts of the story that may not necessarily need to be in the story. All the detail does help explain the characters thoughts, emotions and such, however the amount of detail with some random ranting involved can be a little to boring to get into at first. The story does kind of move forward at a decent pace to start, but does slow down at some point and may end up having the readers lose interest if they do not wish to continue with the high amount of detail.

The main character is a real piece of work. They pretty much made the main character a high level pervert and masochist that could be a turn off for some readers. Her continual denial of her antics combined with the many sexual moments tend to be a little bit too much in some cases. The author really wanted to make a sadist/masochist story and wanted to have a lot of sexual content in their story. This could be a turn off to some people if they are wary of these kinds of topics or just are not as interested in them as certain people may be.

    Con/Pro:

This is a Yuri, girl x girl, story that provides some high level detail into the path of a Sadist/Masochist relationship and possibly teach readers how to have a lesbian relationship. They do not really hide much when it comes to the sex scenes and can be something for people to look at while they read the long detailed explinations of what is happening. I would say the detail kind of compares to the Fate Stay/Night story I read a while ago and just like Fate I kind of ended up skipping through these heavy sex scenes. These scenes seemed a little too long for me, but others may enjoy the length.

    Pro:

The art style, music and story are fairly well done. They put in a lot of effort with the art and made sure the music matched very well with the atmosphere of each scene. There is a lot of repetition in the music since you are often in the same location for most of the story, however it does mix up every so often to allow for a more enjoyable experience. The story, while having some slow moments and long details, actually is fairly good and gets better as you get further into the Visual Novel. The author wrote this over ten years ago and was worried about how it would be accepted, but themes and culture have changed to be more accepting of this kind of stuff. There are some moments that could cause readers to be grossed out or unaccepting of some ideas, but the story expresses how two young woman may end up struggling to express themselves and become more romanticly involved with each other.

    Final Thoughts:

Seven Days With The Ghost may not entirely fit the story, since you spend more time away from the ghost, but works for the kind of story that was trying to be written. This VN is full of sexual content and is not for everyone. Readers may not find this to be as enjoyable as other stories in this genera. However if they are willing to try to get past the slow story telling and the sexual moments, then the reader can find some hidden gems in a story that is not as accepted but is becoming more common. I struggled a little with this one at first but then we pulled into the story late on. I do actually enjoy the story and while the detail can be a little boring, it does help the reader learn more about the characters and the situation they are in.

  • Continuing the Fan Service that keep them going, but with Yuri. There is also a slight lack of sadism in the story and mostly just Fan Service. Also I was not able to get this to run in full screen mode. Like most of the Sakura series, it is fairly lacking and mostly just Fan Service. Weird Huh?

  • Quick, our Dynasty Warriors game failed so put this one out instead! Just my thought.

This game has some good ideas and some very enjoyable moments, but is lacking a lot. I do slightly feel like they rushed it, however I also found out they have been doing the two game release system that many games are doing now. I will know not to buy the base game and wait for the full version to come out when they decide to finish the games. If I choose to continue playing these games. Like I said they had some good ideas that just did not play out as well as they could have and many of the characters kind of just feel like they are there and not really used much. I am glad I did not have to grind all characters for a trophy, but it would be nice to have each character have some kind of purpose or even special stage for them. Granted this is hard to do when you have so many characters, but it was done pretty well in the last game.

There is also a big lack of level designs. I feel like there was maybe ten to fifteen different levels that were repeated over and over again. Since there are around seventy levels that means you will probably see the same stage about ten times. This was a big down side for me. I know games have limitations and such, but maybe they may have to start thinking of how to keep the missions enjoyable if they wish to keep the series going.

All in all, it does what the series does well. Repetition that will probably bore you and make you not really want to play many of the characters.

  • A short and enjoyable action/adventure game? It is supposed to be a Metroid/Castlevania style game, however it does not have a lot of the elements that make up those kinds of games. Though I am no expert since I am new to this genera.

Cons: Very Short. This is mostly done by one individual with some help from smaller groups of people, so this is understandable. I just kind of wish it could have been longer. The newer games seem to be longer so the creator is definitely working harder with others to make longer and more enjoyable games.

Pros: Mostly everything else. Since this is a small project it does lack in some things, however it is still an enjoyable experience that has a lot of great moments if the player is willing to try and find them. I am still new to this genera and these games, however I do enjoy what I played and may even try some of the earlier games as well as the newer ones by this creator.

It may not be something everyone would enjoy since it is short and can beat beaten in a few hours play time. Plus the graphics could be a little off to some people, but it does provide challenge and enjoyment for those who may want to give the game a try.

  • My first Dark Souls Like game, besides playing a few hours of Nioh. Plus it is Anime and that usually makes it more enjoyable for me. Just a heads up, I usually by only the base game and not the add on content/DLC or expansions, unless I want to play them. So this review does not include DLC and add-ons which I have heard are troubling.

    Cons:

I have proven that I am not good at these kinds of game. These games are a bit hard and not for me. I may still give NIOH a try since I have it, but I am not sure I could play actual Dark Souls games and others like them. While it may have been hard at first, I did still find enjoyment over beating each new area and boss and finally finishing the game.

The PS4 did have some visual issues and frame rate issues. These mostly involved long corridors and far off enemies, so it was not a big issue for me. Though it could be a little jarring to others, especially those long corridors. There was also not a large variety of location differences and enemy types. I do not know if this is normal, but it would have been nice to see some more variety in locations and maybe enemies as well. The Cathedral is also WAY TOO LONG.

    Pros:

Since this is my first game of this genera I did find a lot of enjoyment out of it. Sure there were hard spots and I wanted to quit a lot, however, I overcame the problems and finished the game. I do like how the story was presented and that they were able to tie into the God Eater Series into this game. The game is not perfect, but it does provide some enjoyment to new players of the genera and a good story/gameplay that allows players to change based on their liking.

Character Customization is amazing. There is so much you can do to customize your character and it allows players to make what they want. I do not think they can make every kind of character, but the amount of content provided, plus they add more content with patches, is well worth what you get. I was very impressed with the character creation menu.

The game provides a good atmosphere and environment for the story. I went through very slow my first playthrough because I was scared of the sounds and the music also made for some scary moments. They really put a lot of effort into making sure the player feels uncomfortable and wearer of the next corner.

The partner system is the only thing that saved me in this game. I am not sure I could have beaten the game, even after getting to max level, without my partner. There are multiple partners to choose from and they can help change the players playstyle depending on who they choose to bring with them. Most hard games like this should have partners that you dont need online for.

Code Vein may not be the best Dark Souls Like game, but it does provide for that itch and even makes for some enjoyable moments. Players should be able to enjoy most of the game and challenge themselves with the ungraded difficulty and solo mode options. This game did try to go for a different style, while also trying to stick with the genera norms. This is worth trying if you want to see how the game is, or even just watching someone play through the game is also a good option.

  • I can not really give a very good review of this since it took multiple years for me to actually complete this, however I can review what I am currently doing in this expansion and what I remember.

Cons: The Skill Level Up System

Many parts of the new map are locked by skills that must be unlocked. Now most of the story can be done getting the few skills needed to advance the story, however it feels a little terrible having to unlock stuff just to advance a story or even explore locations. An actual player did say their thoughts were that since Heart of Thorns is short they needed to find a way to make it so players did not finish the story in less than a day. So this is a good way to get players to play more, but still feels a little rotten for casual players who just want to do the story or even explore and enjoy the game without having to grind a lot for advancement.

    Difficulty

Granted I have never been the greatest at doing damage and I am always too scared to do the higher level maps without others around since I would die very fast. I am not good at getting gear and figuring out what would work best for my play style. I just kind of stick with what I have and hope for the best. Yet, this expansion kind of takes it a little too far. I dont think there was anything I could kill without the help of others. This is an MMO so you will find people to travel with, but some people like to explore on their own or see if they can solo most of the content by themselves. Casual players like myself would probably struggle, but advanced players would be able to make it through most of the content but still need help in some areas. Again I was told by a player that this expansion was harder so I do not feel too terrible, but knowing that even advanced players struggle does not make me as upset about the new locations.

    My Play Style

Everyone has their own play style and some are more fun than others. Mine is not very enjoyable for other players and I felt terrible making players wait because I wanted to explore something or I wanted to read the journals/letters. This is just my own issue and other may not have this problem. As I mentioned above, I was always with someone and so I skipped text and other stuff so that my coplayers did not get bored or tired of me because I wanted to do stuff at my own pace. The good thing is that most stuff can be explored later when you feel more comfortable and you are not bound by a team that wants to play the game and not wait. Again this is an issue for me, but I still felt bad for those who i played with. Deepest Apologies.

    Pros: Meta Events

Most of the big world events during the expansion were actually very enjoyable. They were hard, and still are hard, but they do have enjoyable moments and you can often do different paths to change up your experience. These events do give some good items and can help enhance your character, but they do take up quite a bit of time in most cases. Yet, there are still locked areas in some events that players may not be able to participate in until they unlock those skills.

    Story

Again this took me many years so I dont remember all of the story, but what I do remember was fairly good and enjoyable. I do wish it was a little longer and that could have helped with the unlocking of skills, but they did put in a decent effort into making a connecting story that worked. There are some missions that do need more players which may not be enjoyable for some players, but as an MMO it does make sense and should be something people do in order to have a more enjoyable time.

    Dragons/Wyverns

I love Dragons and Wyverns and Dinosaurs and creatures of the kind, so I was happy to see these creatures in the new locations. Some are enjoyable to fight, while others can be a nuisance (StoneBreakers). The final map has a very enjoyable Big Event that leads to a final dragon fight that is very enjoyable.

Again, I do not have a lot of memory of the earlier stuff since it was multiple years, but what I am currently playing and the story is enough for me to be able to make a better assessment of the expansion. I did have fun and now that I am playing more often I find myself going back to these locations to really explore more and unlock those skills to be able to complete the maps. I do wish they had done some better ideas for gate locking content, but I can understand why they did it the way it was done. I hope future content does better and is just as enjoyable.

  • The Anime Strategy Game that almost everyone asked for and most certainly enjoyed.

    Cons: Maps

They really do not have many maps which is kind of upsetting for these kinds of games. Now I remember the other Fire Emblem games I have played also had limited maps and content, but it would have been nice to see more maps or battles or locations instead of using like ten maps and then placing the different armies in different locations. While you are playing as one house it would be cool and even add to some strategy elements if you had a set location for each house instead of each house starting at the same location. So for example: you play as house C and you start in the middle. House A is on the left and House B is on the right. Now if I picked House A it would be cool to starts on the left of the map, but instead the game rearranges the Houses and you always start in the middle. This would have been cool to have different starting locations based on each house. This is not a huge problem, but does kind of bring boredom when you replay all stories and already know what strategy to use. Even with the DLC and expansions they did not do much with number of maps and how to add more strategy.

    DLC

There were some good Free DLC that was enjoyable to have for the game if you wanted it. None of the DLC seemed like it was required or even needed to enjoy the game. The items and few new maps did help in some case, I dont think i ever used the items, but they were not needed to enhance the game. The fourth house that was added did add more characters and had a decent story, but again was not entirely required. I did like the new characters for a little bit, but eventually just went back to the characters that I used the most and put the new characters in the bunkers.

Number of Characters: This can be a Pro and Con.

You are given eight characters per class and get more character later through story events. You usually only have the option to bring ten characters with you to battle so you never really need to recruit other characters from other classes unless you dont want those characters to die in battle. It would have been cool to have more characters to use in battle and some cases you do get more spaces available, but it is not very common. You will often want to just stick with your basic ten and make it through the missions without really switching out. I often would recruit characters to make sure they did not die and because I did not like some of the characters in my class. So I needed characters to replace those who did not want to use. Thought I did try to use each character in the house for the main missions since I felt they were essential to the story.

    Pro: Story

There are pretty much just two stories, three if you count the DLC content, and they are very enjoyable. While it can be boring doing the Church story for every House, each House does have some differences which can add to the content of the game. First playthrough does give some decent challenge, but future playthroughs (unless you go a harder difficulty) are usually pretty easy to make it through. The hidden path for the Black Eagles is probably the best of the paths and actually adds new strategy and story that is not in the Church paths, since you are going against the Church.

    Music/Art/Design

Anime, what more to say. They put a lot of effort into the characters, however, the backgrounds and landscape are not as defined and can be a bit disappointing to look at. Though I did not find much issue with it since the characters are the main focus of the combat and visuals. The music is very enjoyable and works very well for each situation. There are actually two versions of each song. The overworld map song where you hear the music while you are picking your characters and moving them and the "Zoom into combat" version. The zoomed in version is usually more base and action filled than the overworld map and can even have different instruments for the song. This is a cool idea for music and I hope other games try this in the future. The developers did put in a decent amount of work into the art and music to make this a very enjoyable part of the game.

    LBGTQ

Not many games are good at expressing this stuff and this game does not do a great job either, but they put in some effort. It is nice to have characters who will interact with your MC no matter the gender you choose. Yet, there is a lot of lack into the effort of this topic. This topic is becoming a little bit more acceptable so it is understandable that they are not sure how to make the story decent with this topic, but they did put in an effort to try. I did feel a bit sad that some Heterosexual characters flirted with your MC of the same gender, but would not date them in the future. Those characters I was able to get a Homosexual relationship with also flirted and did a decent job expressing themselves, but there could have been some more interaction that may have helped players see how this topic is presented. Either way, Edelgards is probably the best Lesbian interaction of all the bisexual characters.

All in all this is a very enjoyable game that does have flaws, but does a decent job at countering those flaws with better ideas. This is well worth playing and I hope future games will learn from this one and be better if not as good as this one.

  • The amazing work of a great solo developer that is well worth playing, maybe.

    Cons:

This may be a me probably that many others will not encounter but I did have trouble figuring out boss fights and a few puzzles. Some were no brainers and I felt terrible not realizing the simplicity of the puzzles. Yet, there were still some, mostly the bosses, that I struggled to really understand what I was doing. Eventually I figured the solution out, but I still felt stupid not really understanding what was going on. Again, this is probably just a me thing and others may not have this issue. I think I am too accustomed to games holding my hand for me.

The story is actually fairly decent and the developer actually put a good amount of effort into making it understandable with the limited resources. The problem is that is can be a little lacking and there are still some holes in the story that do not fully get filled. Since this is a game by one person and they did put an amazing effort into the game, it can be understood that there may be some things lacking, but they did put forth a good effort in the whole process.

    Pros:

Everything :). So there are a few minor issues, yet again, this is by one person so I can be a little more lenient. The rest of the game is very good and well worth trying. The developer definitely knew what he wanted to do and how to put it together and did an amazing job with it. You can clearly see similarities from his other projects and how he decided to add new elements to make the game enjoyable. The bosses are well made and do require some strategy and that helps make the experience different for most players.

I would gladly recommend this game for players to try. It has a lot of common elements of the past games by the same developer, but also new elements that can make the game even more entertaining. This game does what it set out to do and I believe the developer did an amazing job. I hope to see future work from this developer.

  • A long awaited remake of some of the amazing games from the Playstation One era.

    Cons:

There are some things that you could do in the past games that do not seem to work with the remake version. I know I was able to breath fire during most of the whirlwinds in the past games, however I was not able to do so in the remake version. These are just minor issues that really never affected the gameplay much and would not be much of an issue to newcomers. Yet, players of the past games may be a little upset that they can no longer do things in the remake that they could do in the past games.

This could have been me, but I did feel a little struggle with some of the controls and being able to do certain jumps or glides. I struggled a lot in certain levels that I thought were easy in the past, but must have been altered a little to make them a little more challenging. Again, this could have just been and issue with me and I am not playing the game as well as I have in the past. Yet, these minor alteration (if they did any) did lead to levels that I use to love, being a troublesome and hateful. I still kept a good mind that I was the cause, but other players could have had more problems and may not be as accepting as I am.

They kept the loading screens. While you can flap Spyro's Wings and blow flame out his mouth while the loading screens are going on, this should not have been as bad as they were. They seemed as long, if not longer than the past games. While this does provide the original gamers with the experience they had in the past, the loading screens could have been shorter and possibly fixed for our current time period.

    Pros:

All the artwork and music was updated and given some very enjoyable touches that still provided the original style with some current era changes. I did find the levels and worlds to be very enjoyable to look at and often spent time looking at various scenes instead of playing the game. They did a very good job at remastering the game and bringing some enjoyment to past gamers and newcomers. I am not exactly sure, but I do feel they updated some voice lines and added a few new ones that added more to the experience of the game.

The game is very memorable to players who played the games in the past and adds a few new gems and hiding spots that make it so past players did not complete the game super fast. I did have trouble finding some hidden spots, but was eventually able to find them and felt enjoyment being able to find new locations or added gems for the game. I really wish they could have added some new levels or even kept some of the original panning of scenes, but they did put a lot of work into the game to make it enjoyable.

This Spyro Remake is one of the better remakes that I have played and it gives past players the experience they really enjoyed (with some minor changes) as well as providing enjoyment for new players. They did a decent job at making the characters and music and voice work just as enjoyable, if not better. I do recommend this game for players of the past as well as any new comers who might want to try a dragon platformer game of the past.

  • Cosmic Star Heroine

This game is an Astronomical Comedy Adventure.

    Cons:

I really struggled to figure out things that I did not really enjoy about this game. However, I can try to take perspectives of others.

This is one of those old school style RPG Maker (probably made in another program) games. Some people may be a little put off by the graphics and style since these are not the best. Yet, they fit pretty well for the kind of game the developer was trying to make and present to the audience.

Exploration is kind of involved and there can be quite a bit of back tracking if you want to get the most out of the game. There were times I would go somewhere that I was not suppose to go and explore those areas. I then would find out if these locations were required based on enemy difficulty or finishing and area and the story not advancing. I enjoy exploration and actually thought this was good for the game, but I could see other maybe not enjoying it. Also back tracking is usually never fun, but it is not always required if you just want to play through the game.

    Pros:

There is quite a bit of comedy in the descriptions of enemies and the story. It was very enjoyable to learn about what was going on in the story, but also to be able to see new enemies and see what kinds of enjoyment the author brought to the enemies. I have been told that the author does this quite a bit with their other games and being able to have fun with your own writing is a good way to show that you enjoyed what you created.

For those who do like these RPG Maker style games, then you may enjoy the story and music and artwork. I kind of went through as much of the game in order to see the different environments and hear the various music that they put into the game. It was also enjoyable to see the enemies designs and what kinds of bosses I would end up encountering. There were a few tough spots and the story did lose some interest at some points, but I did mostly feel that the developers made an enjoyable game to play.

This is a hard one to sell for me. This game is worth checking out if you enjoy these kinds of games, and actually has some enjoyable comedy, but those who do not like these kinds of games may want to avoid it or even watch someone else play it and see what you think. Since everyone has their own interest, it is often hard to suggest things for people, but I think this is one of those rare treasures that people might want to give a shot and see for themselves.

  • Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire

Another Expansion that takes place in the Desert. Because the last two desert levels were great. I think?

    Cons:

Desert. Ok they did some interesting ideas for the desert environments. They added mounts to the game and the maps seemed to be built around the different mounts that you get in the game. This is a good way to build maps that are not as enjoyable, however, the desert maps are still pretty bland. It is usually hard to make good desert maps and have them be enjoyable. The two maps added before this expansion were pretty laggy and buggy and had a lot of peopleupset with them. So of course these maps also have their own issues. While the first couple were actually not that bad, the maps just seemed to lose enjoyability and got more tiresome after a while.

They continued the skill system from Heart of Thorn expansion. Yet, it was much easier to level up skills and felt fairly decent. It is still a little upsetting to block people off from events or areas because they dont have the skill for something unlocked, but it does allow players to explore more and get more out of maps and the expansion by making some kind of requirements for them.

Im pretty sure the lesson the expansion was trying to teach is that there is no right answer for fixing the problems that are plaguing the worl of Tyria. You just have to accept the consequences of your actions and hope you can fix any problems that will come out of the new problem you are creating.

Races are too Short. Enought said.

    Pros:

Mounts (specifically the skimmer): They added more movement options to the game. I am not sure why. I enjoyed exploring by foot and still do unless I am kind of being yelled at for not using mounts. Yet they did design the different areas of the expansion with Mounts in mind and this actually adds some enjoyment for the game. It even allows for some new adventure activities and races that can be participated in. While you do not have to use them, there are some cases you will be required to and the extra skill bonuses can be added to other mounts making them more enjoyable as well.

The story was a little iffy with me at first, however I grew to enjoy it. It may not have the saem effect that Heart of Thorns had on me, but I did enjoy the various different battles against the Fire God and he minions. I may have pushed my friend a little too much with my actions and how I played the story, but I did what I felt was enjoyable and worked with him to be able to have an enjoyable time.

They added some enjoyable environments and music that work very well with the desert theme. I really enjoy the racing music, but they also did some decent work with the various different areas and boss music. The atmosphere they created did fit very well and I felt engrossed in the world (when I was not looking at sand).

This expansion brought some enjoyable moments to the Guild Wars 2 experience as well as some minor flaws. Nothing is going to be perfect and everyone is going to have pros and cons for their games. This expansion was a little bit more enjoyable than the Heart of Thorns expansion, however I still would go with Heart of Thorns storywise and event wise over some of the story and events of the Desert. It is stil an enjoyable expansion and I will keep playing to see how things go in the future. Maybe the lag will get fixed?
