I know there will be a lot of opinions on what Alex should do and how to proceed into ME3.

I guess pretty plainly my two cents is this. I'm not sure how likely it is he'll do another run through of the Mass Effect series. So I think he should play it however he would if it wasn't a feature. He should play the version of Mass Effect 3 he wants, like we all got to.

I know they make it pretty clear this is just a one-time play date, but if the interest were there on their end, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more Resident Evil 2 from the Beast crew.

@demoskinos: I do see what you are saying, but I feel like at the end of the day if I get the drop on someone, shoot em a bunch, but then they turn and kill me. When I see they had some improved defense card the only thing in my mind as a player is "this is broken", regardless of if that's true or not.

The system may be fine, but it reinforces a belief that players are only better because of their cards, even if that isn't inherently true. Now that may sound like a case of "well that's the player's fault then", but I think part of game design isn't about knowing you're right, but also knowing how your players will feel.

It's such a shame.

I actually got a bit more out of the campaign because I read the book (I know) and was a tad more invested in the characters going in, but none of that changes any of the points Dan makes here.

The other side to the multiplayer is that EA claims the cards have a "minimal" impact on gameplay, but that only really leaves two outcomes.
1. You assume that's true and the system loses ALL value and impact
2. You try to believe it until you get dropped by an enemy w/ damage enhance cards and are now 100% convinced otherwise.

It all leads to just feeling bad. There is a lot of good in this game, it's just pieces of a really bad overall package.

So I really love this feature and all I'm going to say is that if they do move on to XCOM 2 the canonical ending was a loss.

Time to get nerdy, but my avatar is still Spider-Man so I guess it's fitting.

Peter is definitely the Spidey we see in the trailer, but in the comics both Peter and Miles are acting as separate Spider-Men.

The villain is a guy called Mr. Negative. Among other things he has the ability to twist/mind control people a bit (think photo negative and negative versions of yourself AKA comics y'all). Him grabbing Spider-Man at the end could be significant because it could be a plot point where Spidey goes bad for a bit and Miles takes over.

My one hope is that this isn't a Snake/Raiden thing. Miles is fine, but I just don't like games pulling extended bait and switches.
