Okay, I'm going to jump in here and offer my take on things. I've never heard of Leigh Alexander, I didn't know what she did, nor have I heard her on any podcast before. Also, I watched the playback of the stream before reading the comments. Normally I never post on here and just browse some news stories and listen to the podcast, but I have a strong desire to chip in with my thoughts. I'm a human being, and as a result of that I have opinions on other human beings. I'll admit now that I didn't listen to all of the podcast as I was literally getting a headache, but I listened to a fair majority of it. Take these points as you will.
I understand this was the end of E3, alcohol was a-flying and everyone was a bit worn out, but this is no excuse for Leigh Alexander to act the way she did. Now, I don't know about you, but I listen to the Bombcast for quality journalistic views. When we've got one of the other guests expressing their point or addressing a question to someone, having Leigh Alexander constantly butting in with a loud, brash voice was annoying. I often never heard the end of someone's interesting sentence as she would change the subject around to something completely unrelated, often coming across very self-centred and drawing attention back to herself; as seen in the segment where she spends a large amount of time dedicated to apologising for the way she acted last year. This could have been dealt with much more quickly, if at all.
I looked up Leigh Alexander and found her Twitter. The tweets go on and on as encourages to spread the word to "#saveleighalexander". All things aside, this is a highly egotistical manoeuvre, turning the dislike of her appearance into some sort of big campaign into labelling the people here as some sort of monsters. Why doesn't she just apologise, accept her appearance wasn't great, then move on? Instead, she tells the Giant Bomb community that they should be "embarrassed" due to our sexism. I'll tell you one thing: this is not about the gender of Leigh Alexander. In fact, it's pretty hypocritical of her to think this. Yes, she's a woman. So? Did you know Jeff Gerstmann is a man? It's irrelevant and nonsensical of me to state that, so it applies both ways. No, the reason people dislike Leigh Alexander's appearance is due to the way she conducted herself. If one of the other male guests acted that way she did, I'm sure people here would be equally as annoyed.
Obviously I can't speak for the people there, but to me it seemed like they were becoming increasingly annoyed with the way she conducted herself. People were walking off, sighing and becoming visually put out as she corrects Ryan on a word (and as we all know, Ryan loves to mispronounce or make up words) or shoots down other's opinions over the whole Activision thing. I missed out on what others had to say due to Leigh Alexander's attitude.
I think I've said what I need to. All things said and done, this is a minor inconvenience to me. Frankly, I have more important things to care about. It's one podcast out of many that I haven't enjoyed. However, I enjoy listening to the Bombcast, it's usually a fun experience, but please, Giant Bomb staff, let the feedback tell you one thing, loud and clear: we dislike Leigh Alexander appearing on the podcast. Perhaps she's nice a person really, when fully sober, I'm not sure, I haven't met her, but from where I'm sitting she comes across as arrogant, self-centred and hypocritical. Sorry.
