Hello everyone!  My name is Matias aka "Solidamus". I'm a 19 years old Finnish male and a nerd of course. I mainly play on my PC but I have always had a special place in my heart just for handheld consoles and I'm happy to tell you all that I'm now part of the Giantbomb-community! Whoo! I won't probably use this blog too much but I will try to publish a great deal of my opinions and thoughts through user reviews. I have already added few of those so you can all go read them and tell me what you think, I'm very open with criticism but please just leave it at that, I have no need for trolls or flamers. ;D
 
Yesterday I thought a lot about what makes games good while trying to learn Dwarf Fortress, I'm a huge fan of rogue-like games like NetHack and ADOM. Like you all probably know, Dwarf Fortress is one of those ASCII-art games where you only have letters and numbers that tell you what you see on the screen, so the graphical side of things isn't that intensive but there is one beautiful thing about this kind of games and that is the amount of content and replayability. Can you think what kind of games we would have if we took the amount of content of games like Dwarf Fortress or ADOM and combine it with a much bigger AAA-budget, I know something like this isn't going to happen any time soon but one can dream right? Is there any similar games you would like to give same kind of treatment and if there is, please comment, just because I'm interested what other people think about this.

Man, I love dwarf fortress. The innovation and detail in the experience is worth exponentially more than graphical detail.
 
I'd recommend the mayday tileset for the game. Of course, it is mainly for graphics whores. :-)

Take a look at haven and hearth. Interesting concept (awful community though in my opinion)

I'm still here though! Just haven't used the blog. :D Haven & Hearth seems pretty interesting so I might try it some day.
