I for one hope Bioware continues having character moments that make you think in future games.  When playing Mass Effect 2 I felt some strain on Mordin's sidequest but nothing to this level.  What I think was even more painful about the situation with Anders was the fact that I helped him do it without knowing.  I did all of his sidequests.  That heaped more betrayal on top of it all.  Not only did my friend commit an atrocious act but he fooled me into helping him.

When Anders blew up the chantry it felt like a punch in the gut.  My jaw dropped and I was disgusted and disappointed.  This character I've been working with nearly the entire game does something that in my opinion is terrible.  I invested time and  emotion in this character.  I felt betrayed and was ticked off for a good day basically feeling that what happened had ruined the game for me.  Then I realized that the game had got a genuine emotion out of me that really stirred me.  Regardless of if I agreed with what happened or not it definitely had a deep emotional impact on me.  One that I will be feeling for a long time.  Bravo Bioware on making me feel for this world and these characters.

That does seem like a valid option.  On my next play through I might try that.  My real issue is that I played through the game with traditional setup.  1 tank, 1 healer, 1 rogue, 1 two-handed warrior (My character.  Fun but I think I should have rolled something different).  At the end of the game I actually wanted to send Anders off but since I played the entire game in that setup I felt extremely constrained in my choice.  That was my real problem.  A small gameplay issue like that getting in the way of the story.

On a side note, playing with my party makeup supremely limited my party.  I wanted to be a damage dealing warrior with Anders being the only healer and Avaline(sp?) being the only character built to be a tank from the get go.  I was only able to swap out the rogue.  And if you choose a non-rogue chests are unavailable to you.  Sorry for venting there.  :-)

I enjoyed this game but one thing that frustrated me throughout the game was the lack of healing characters.  This all assumes you didn't roll a mage.  Unless I totally missed something there is only one character with healing magic for two thirds of the game.  I found myself not being able to make a pure story choice at the end of the game and instead needing to make a game play choice.  Anders was the only healer and the best buffer in the party and it frustrated me that choosing to side with the templars basically makes it so that you don't have a healer for the rest of the game.  I know that if Bethany survives it is possible to get her in your party for the last fight but you do not find that out until the final fight itself.  Overall I felt severely limited with my party make up because of this.  Anders was always in my party because I needed a healer and no one else could do the job (after the first act anyway).

Did anyone else have a similar experience?

I would say that Saints Row 2 is definitely worth the cost.  There should be more than enough stuff to do in it for your to receive the entertainment value you paid for it.

I am totally not a paid actor but I will accept "donations" if anyone wishes to have the site praised more.  ;-)

Seriously though, I'm just admiring the system.  I love different games systems and this one is very intriguing for me.  It plays on my love of achievements and my constant need to amass collections; both of which feed into one another.

I am really liking the new quest system.  Unlocking quests while learning more about the site and contributing to it is a fantastic way to build a user-base.  I can't wait to see what Giant Bomb does next.
