Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer: Dropship Insertion Mode

No Caption Provided

One of my favorite things to do while playing games is to get to places I'm not supposed to be able to. Usually this means looking around for holes in the geometry and testing the limits of the collision detection system. Looking for surfaces that don't line up, areas with odd concave protrusions, or anything "glitchy" in the movements I might notice while just playing through the game. Lately Mass Effect 3 multiplayer has been my glitch-hunting playground, and glitching has been good.

When Bioware introduced the biotic charge ability to the vanguard class in Mass Effect 2 I just about had a seizure of pure joy. This is the kind of movement ability that just blows open the world for movement exploits. It delivered like a champ! Moon-walking on railings? You can do that! Looking around the inside of a shuttle craft? You can do that! Air-dropping yourself from 30,000ft onto a communication disk? You can do that!

And the Mako?! Hell yes the Mako! It's a 6-wheeled rolling physics glitch with jump jets! HOLLY SHIT! I love the Mako! They practically beg you to break the game with the Mako in Mass Effect. It's a beautiful thing hitting a Geth Armature at full speed and rocketing off into some crack in the landscape.

Where am I going with all of this? Mass Effect is awesome. It's awesome in more ways than it even intended to be. These are some of the more non-standard ways I love the Mass Effect games. How about you? What odd corner of the Mass Effect game systems or stories do you love?

in conclusion,

I Love the Mako M35

I call this picture the futility of man.

Not really sure how I got there. There was an Geth Prime that shot me then I spent the rest of the match looking at this. I could not be happier about the pose though.

This has happened to me a few times. Kind of annoying but at least somewhat entertaining.

Mass Effect's multiplayer is full of glitches. It's sad actually. Like you mentioned the Biotic Charge is fucking broken. I don't know how it happens but a good 50% of games I play with Vanguards have them permanently removed from combat because they are stuck under the level somewhere. If it weren't so easy to break I'd be okay with what it lets you do, but man, it happens so often. Even once as an Engineer, I rolled away from a grenade backwards into a wall. As I was ending the roll the grenade exploded forcing me into the wall and allowed me to float real high before falling into nothingness and being out for the rest of the game.

I guess I'm just hatin'.

Our team won when that happened to me. Everyone else died and I flew away like an angel or something until time ran out for the extraction.

I haven't played the multiplayer from the final game, but at one point I started floating in the air, and then got stuck in some geometry. Although, to my friends it just appeared that I was flipping out on the ground, so when I started bleeding out I begged my friends to just let me bleed out so I could respawn the next wave, but then one of my friends revived me as a joke.

I then proceeded to call him a piece of shit for the next thirty minutes.

I don't usually find exploits like that amusing(especially the Mako), I usually find them fucking infuriating.

Yes! I love the pictures. I understand why they can be frustrating though especially in multiplayer. I try not to annoy other random people and usually just glitch hunt when playing with friends.

A fun single player spot to get outside of the geometry is the hospital on the Citadel. You can get up on top of the hospital gurney on the right hand side towards the back end of the hospital. From there it's pretty easy to get at least your head outside and look around. The sides and top of the hospital are fully meshed and textured :) Looks pretty good too.
