I'm not too familiar with Orson Scottcard's work other than Advent Rising, and I thought that game had a pretty solid story. This one is like.... so-so...

That actually made me laugh. XD
I immediately stopped when the cutscene ended and thought "If that's what you call behind a cabnet then you're fucked." As for the main point about her being paralyzed she clearly moves enough to operate the radio, just not enough to evade guards and escape the complex.
What else I liked before the game came out they were like "He's just your average guy". The second he goes near the gun, he has a flash back, with his epic military history, and he's been trained for most of his life by his Dad in combat, that's hardly average.
