He definitely should NOT pivot to Netflix as he said, he's watching it the right way. Netflix/Crunchyroll/any "official" subs butcher the names and will have the gore/smoking censorship that superfurryboy brought up since they all use the TV source instead of blurays. I think the thing about Speedwagon yelling for everyone to close their eyes is to prevent their eyeballs from being cut from Wamu's hair braid attack since it is essentially creating invisible wind blades to fly out.

You may find that certain people may turn away from couples expressing affection in public. Perhaps because they are shy, socially awkward, share religious beliefs, or for another reason (some people have difficulty maintaining eye contact, turn away from ppl in general, etc). It is true that they do not proceed to complain about it like Joseph did, usually.

That does not make them Incels.

I wouldn't joke about them being one. It is not really funny.

Joseph's just a fictional character with unusual dialogue. Let's not joke about a fantasy in a way that would hurt real people.

The audio balance feels very off. Not sure if it was also in previous episodes but Lucy is much louder than Jeff, and peaks a little. Jeff is quieter than everyone. I'm on a bus and I have to turn all the way up to hear Jeff but then my ears hurt for Lucy and Wolf.

The "future character" that got their smoking censored by shadows is technically a minor, so I assume that's a no-no for Japanese television.

The english dub is pretty good too. The part 1 dub is harder to recommend because Johnny Young Bosch does a fake british accent for Johnathan. And Dio apparently had an American accent since childhood- but that's okay because he does a fantastic job

That adventure do be Bizarre.

The bubble-shaming in this episode was scandalous. Are they intimidating? No. Are they inconvenient and highly situational? Of course. Are they mostly ineffective? Possibly. What was the point I was making?

Since this the first one made after the debut, it seems like they are trying to be more careful about revealing future details. I believe the intention was to make a point of comparison or tease out fun bits, but some listeners watching along for the first time are more sensitive to spoilers. I'm caught up to the anime, so I didn't mind. But they are keeping those hints more vague now, so I think that'll be appreciated.

Lucy’s helicopter thing was hilarious.

While I'm enjoying the podcast, it's a bit weird hearing two people who are familiar with JoJo one of which is a supposed expert fumble that many details. From one scene being outright spoiled (somehow *not correctly*) to not being able to recall how the cigarette censorship worked or not being sure about music references or why they were changed. Come on, JoJo wiki is right there.

Also, the violence definitely *does* get worse in parts, mainly by going from fantasy sticking people into people to some more "realistic" shit (achieved via magic, but the result is the same nonetheless). Araki LOVES gore and he turned people into various shapes and cut into so many pieces where if you're not squeamish about one gorey moment across all 8 parts, there's probably something wrong with you.

Seconding audio balance - I had to constantly turn the volume up and down to make this episode listenable.

Welp I'm caught up and sorry but i can't wait 2 weeks to watch a hour of anime. Maybe I'll come back to this at some point. Would genuinely like to hear Jerf's impressions of Cowboy Bebop since it's of the best anime's.
