Linguist chiming in: Jan is kinda right. Cupboard is a compound word like clipboard, it's just been lexicalised over years (or rather centuries) of use and pronunciation has shifted. Reasons why it isn't the same with clipboard are likely that it's a younger, less frequently used word, and also that the parts of the compound are semantically a bit stronger than in cupboard. It's still the same structure.

Just when I thought Tam's opinion of the GameCube controller was the most egregious thing I'd hear on this podcast, Jan goes and says that about The Hobbit movies.

My mother got me an iPod for Christmas one year but lost it in her closet and only gave it to me like 10 years later. It was a really old one with a tiny screen that could play low quality videos, but it was pre-owned because my mom managed a pawn store. It had an engraving on the back with some guy's name, the name of some Houston company that made rocket ship parts, and a short congratulatory message. I plugged it in and there weren't an mp3s or videos on it, but there WAS a text file that had a list of files that USED to be on the iPod. Apparently whoever owned it before me had loaded it up with a bunch of very small, low-quality videos from what used to be a very popular "deep throat" porn site.

So yeah, it seems like there was some genius rocket ship parts engineer out there hiding porn from his family and jerking it to pixelated oral sex on an iPod they got from their work for being a good engineer or something. That's when I realized smart people are just like me! Anyway, I sold the iPod on eBay for like $80 because it was considered a cool retro item at that point.

Yoooo, a Film & 40's for the entire LotR Extended trilogy would be AMAZING. I didn't realize how much I needed that in my life until now.

This whole "do you wash your feet properly?" thing was covered by UK's BBC Radio 1 last year (that was actually about whether people washed their legs rather than feet) and a huge number of people said they didn't wash their legs specifically as the water covers that area along the anyway.
