After I beat Elden Ring (almost 140 hours, beat all demigods, never got help from players because I could never get the coop to work anyway) I loudly proclaimed I was done with the game permanently. Two days later I have collected almost everything and am preparing for NG+ so I can get the ending I wanted... Still, I think the game peaks long before it ends. The last couple of areas were pretty underwhelming and things start getting repetitive. NG+ seems pretty nice, though, and Platinum is completely doable. It's a pain that you have to beat it three times, but I suppose the third could be done as a speed run.

Personally, I think ER has the most understandable story of the From Software games. It's the only one where I have understood at least the gist of the story, and actually LIKED some of the characters. You really have to be OK with reading the item descriptions it you want to understand anything, though.

@theonewhoplays: Yeah, I think the game is long but you can't fault it for that. You yourself have to be going out of your way kinda like Skyrim and how people say it's bad played 300 hours didn't finish it got bored...lol The main game isn't that much longer than a normal RPG. I will say the extra stuff even if repetitive is not so you can 100% it like a demon in one month. It's for gamers who just explore and like happening on stuff. I heard reviews that it's bad cause it's an empty large open world with nothing to do then also heard it's bad cause everywhere you go something takes you off the main path...lol which is it. I think people saying Elden ring is just open world dark souls are also being reductionist and belittling of the work this game does, that said if it wasn't good people wouldn't hate it so much if that makes sense.

Yeah like you when I first played a souls game all i thought was... let's get through this so we can say we beat a souls and get the git gud crowd off my back and their award of a true gamer. Jokes aside it really did feel like ok I did it, I do deserve an award...ill never play another of these games again, this was long and hard...weeks later you find yourself replaying it lol. Also, you find that you're running through the hard game in 3 x the speed. You realize the game isn't that hard. You realize it's fun. You realize you play it on-off time for fun. You realize you like souls games. You realize you defend them from people saying they suck cause the community sucks and the games need to be easier and stop gatekeeping (said by people who don't play them) you realize people overstate how hard they are or your just good at them over time, you finally realize other games are easier cause the lessons you learned in souls. etc.
