Giant Bombcast 663: Cooksies to Keepsies

As we enter 2020's final month, we double down on the year's remaining games like Immortals Fenyx Rising, Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, and Yakuza, plus Thanksgiving steaks, the whereabouts of Sam Worthington, and the questionably imminent opening of Super Nintendo World.

@staticfrog: I’m saying it’s a shame that the existing controller isn’t that great when compared to the competition. Whether they make an Elite 3 or not is hypothetical although almost guaranteed but what is very real is that the rumble in the Series X controller is just bad.

@kirkdouglas: so you skipped zelda breath of the wild, witcher 3, dark souls, and only brought games like tetris and call of duty warzone, etc. Dont get me wrong jeff does great explaining his likes and dislikes but dude is usually lukewarm on most games and people dont understand that he thinks most things are fine. Little things sound like he hates them but stuff like glitches or slow walking put him off a game. Its called jeff's opinion for a reason, cause its specific to him. I hope you werent serious and dont only get games he enjoys. Youd miss out on alot and he mentions tons how important it is that its all specified from his point of view and the stuff he doesnt like might not bother others.

I skipped all of those games because I just don't have time to play them. Unless I miraculously get a job where all I have to do all day is peruse games that I might've missed, it probably won't change. Jeff's point of view usually lines up with mine because he also has limited time to get into a game now that he's a father. I would say that I'm also lukewarm on most games these days, but sometimes it's nice to come home and play a game for an hour or so because it's not work. The minute a game starts being work, it's not fun. Back in the old times, my interests also lined up with Ryan and Drew.

The cross-team chat email idea is terrible. In competitive multiplayer games, all-chat/cross-team chat is always awful. Maybe 1% of the time you'll get someone commending an opponent, but that is far and away the minority. It's just insults and trash talk. Completely worthless. I turn off any kind of all-chat, first thing. It never serves any useful purpose other than as an avenue for shitty people to say shitty things.

The email after that about franchises was a flawed premise. "People care about mechanics the most." Well, maybe that's what you care about. Not everyone is the same.
