I wasn't into football until I got into a Fantasy league about 15 years ago. But now I'm not doing fantasy cuz I'd rather enjoy watching the game without the distraction of wanting a team to win but not wanting their quarterback to do good because my opponent that week was starting him.

Either Dan doesn't understand the concept of an underdog character, or he wants his underdog characters to have muscles and punch people.

One "could we see this movie's view of the future in our world" that rings with me is the Dr. Know booth in A.I. The idea of a pay per search voice activated google that would return a single result that is often nothing related to what you actually want.

The Roman Empire phenomenon is easy to explain: there are a lot of people who learned a tiny bit of correct information, and a lot of misinformation, about the Roman Empire, and it’s assumed this weird mythological place among many people (mostly straight white dudes). Anyone who thinks about it more than twice a year is either a) a classical historian or b) looking at the news and thinking “this is just like the Roman Empire” about everything. It’s a moth light for this nation’s laziest amateur scholars, much to the frustration of the genuine scholars.

Case in point: Zuckerberg is apparently obsessed with it, Augustus Caesar in particular. I’d rather listen to someone talk about their fantasy football team than the Roman Empire in most cases, and I haven’t played fantasy in years.

The near constant wrestling lingo from Dan (at least early on) is just indecipherable. Please stop doing that so much on the podcast, it's so alienating.

I wish there was a world where Drew Scanlon would barge into the Discord call, Minotti-style, just to correct them on the creation/fall of the Berlin Wall segment.

Looking forward to Dan watching the Lord of the Rings movies in a year or two and realizing it's one of the definitive trilogies of our lifetimes.

@csl316: It’s also possible that Dan is so wrestling-pilled that at best he’s going to prefer something like Conan the Barbarian or Highlander over “so long, so boring, wizards are boring” Lord of the Rings.

@takeshikitano3It's why I generally stop listening to anything with Dan on it. He thinks it's funny and cool. He either doesn't care or is oblivious to the fact that it actively turns so many people off. He's a brand at this point and not a personality.:

Hallelujah to Bakalar saying people shouldn't buy games right when they come out. It's such a bad decision monetarily it amazes me that it happens outside of games media industry and those attempting to be influencers/etc. to get hits for the latest thing. For us normies: just a wait a little (especially if you're sitting on massive backlogs).
