Voicemail Dump Truck Aftermath with Jeff and Ben 09/20/17

We take YOUR calls on the topics of arcades! Conversations range from discussions on scooter gangs, to military arcades, to Para Para Paradise.

If you think the GIant Bombcast spends too much time talking about Not Video Games, you're going to hate this thing.

It's Aftermath on the web, but Aftershock on the file.

@jeff Non gamers playing Tekken solidifies my theory; The basic inputs are easier. I think it's part of the reason Smash works with casual players as well.

I wish the GB Unarchived channel was still preserving the videos for these. I watched the first two and then the third disappeared and presumably this fourth one won't be making an appearance. :<

Aftermath. After they do the mathematics on the bombcast.

Checked Mitchell corp. on wikipedia and apparently Tokyo Crash mobs was their last game. Haven't seen the quicklook for a while, but i remember it having gamemodes that are sort of like Zuma / Puzz loop. Funny how that company DNA is still visible through the years.

@pomeroy: I'd agree with you; Tekken's basic inputs are WAY more intuitive than many other systems - Buttons 1-4 means Left Fist, Right Fist, Left Foot, Right Foot. It's a hell of a lot easier to understand than High-Low Light-Medium-Heavy attacks, which are meaningless descriptions out of context.

Okay, a correction to my earlier correction about the light-gun BRM training game. So apparently it was a Super Nintendo and not some bootlegged thing at all, but in my defense, in 2001 it looked pretty bootsy.

The Multi-Purpose Arcade Combat Simulator, looking at the images on this site, this is exactly what we had. Shout out to Alpha Company 3-10 at Fort Leonard Wood!

New show name idea:

Tick-Talk

'Cause it sounds like tick-tock, which bombs do, they tick and they tock, and the guys talk, while the bomb ticks.

This name is a good name, not only because it sounds good and works well, but also because it reminds me of Red Alert: Aftermath and Tesla Tanks.

Thanks, Videogames.com!

@pixelsoldier:

BCT, as of 2005, still used the light gun.

Everytime before we deployed (five in eight years... yeah reserves), we played ARMA 2 to practice convoy ops and RoE.

On an unrelated subject, ever read or hear Lt. Col. Grossman talk about games? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I know not everybody is into call-in shows, but I just want to chime in with my one-and-a-half cents and say I love this and hope it continues being a regular thing. Between this and Jar Time, I'm convinced this community is Jeff's muse. And Ben seems to be picking up on that too. Such a fun and laid-back listen. Thanks guys (and everyone here who called in).

That NFL FMV game they were talking about was also on the mighty Sega CD.

It was called "NFL's Greatest San Francisco vs Dallas 1978-1993" rolls off the tongue.

It is fun to see.... not play.

This was a lot of fun, I look forward to this every week even if I can't call in most of the time.

Also if anyone knows where I can find a DancemaniaX machine in the Bay Area, hit me up!
