ALBUMMER! 25: Billy Idol's "Cyberpunk"

Ah yes, futuristic cyber-rocker Billy Idol.

I was concerned about them keep the accents going for too long, but now I respect Jordan for being the last man standing about 15 minutes in.

I haven´t watched the episode yet, but i´m currently half way through the album and...... i kinda love it.

Other than "Greates Hits" i´m not extremely familiar with Billy Idol - i never even heard of this album before. But for some reason i listend to his 2005 Album "Devils Playground" a lot when it came out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ah, Enhanced CDs, where you'd put them in your computer and they'd install QuickTime. And they all used a different version of QuickTime.

This episode was what my future mates call a proper banger.

Even better. This was so ground breaking in the trend, what I read it was a 3.5" floppy disk that came with the initial pressing since making CD-ROMs were more expensive at the time. They had plans to make Enhanced CD pressings the next year but never did because of the poor critical & commercial reception it received.

Great episode! I have to point out though that @jeremyhammond got the quote wrong. Penn Jillette did not actually call him a poser. The quote is pretty positive really:

"I'm tempted to call him a computer 'poser' but that's not the point. [...] He's not a poser. He's a fan of computers, and he doesn't claim to be more. [...] He's not a fan of computers because he can write code, he's a fan because he knows that whatever is really happening nowadays is happening around computers."

This is such an educational show. TIL Blade was the first cyberpunk and Stephen Dorff is just an amalgamation of ones and zeros.

This was the best podcast ever and a great intro to albummer
