Iunno. All I know is I'm so freaking glad Drew started talking about F1 on the Bombcast, and then started Alt+F1 with Danny. It's got me way into F1, and I'm loving it.

With the feedback Danny wanted:

Yes do F1 again next year please! Also Formula e for the off-season maybe? I'm up for anything with the off weeks too.

Fun Battlestar Galactica rumour

The corners of all the books/papers were cut because during the filming of the mini-series reboot (before the new series launched) SyFy was constantly pushing production to save money on everything they filmed ( to "cut corners" basically). It then ended up been a nice unique styling choice that set the show apart, so they then decided to bring the same styling to the series when it launched as an in-joke

Ronald Moore (executive producer ) has however said this was a myth, but other production people said it was true.

Danny probably went to UCD, the peasant!

And I thought Cork was pronounced Caaaaaark.

When I was in Dublin a few weeks ago, I went to touristy locations such as Kilmainham Gaol, Malahide Castle, Guinness, Jameson and some of the traditional pubs. And they were all fun! We also went out to Dun Laoghaire and wandered around a bit as well as Howth. The local train system will let you go to some nice locations, do look into it!

Last time around we went by car to see some historical spots in County Meath like the Hill of Tara, a castle, and a weird boat.

It’s not just out of fashion, many would perceive it to be quite insulting. Its use is seen as sexist by many and it hasn’t been widely used since the 70s or so. „Frau“ is the correct term for “woman”, no matter whether married or unmarried.

That said, when non-native speakers use that word it is kind of endearing. All non-native speakers seem to use it in this weird way to refer to a girlfriend of someone. Must be something many German teachers have picked up during their education a long, long time ago and spread around …

I'm not sure I understood, but if you're asking what you guys should do next year I really hope you continue to cover Formula 1! You guys brought me into this sport and Alt+F1 is main source for F1 news (outside of Reddit and some random BBC news update on F1).

As for NASCAR and Indy, I haven't watched much of it but it seems pretty dull. I haven't seen much of rally but that seems pretty interesting so it'd be cool to hear you guys cover that, but I wouldn't choose it over F1. And of course, Formula-E would be great as well.

Just my two cents. I hope you guys stick with F1 for years to come! You guys got me here so you can't leave me here! Haha

@yatpay: indycar is not only faster than f1, the double headers can be pretty crazy. I'm not sure if you have seen too much of it, but I would hardly call it boring especially when compared to something like Monaco this year. Try and catch the Toronto race tomorrow, I'm sure you will enjoy it if you enjoy f1

I like this podcast and I like F1. I only have access to one of the two. Does anyone know where I can watch F1 on the internet? I would like Drew and Danny to do a Football (soccer) podcast.

@physicalscience: I've only seen a few clips of Indy but aren't the races just on a big oval? Of course, I'm willing to give it a shot, but it would seem to me that driving in a big circle at maximum speed would make for relatively dull watching compared to F1's twists and turns combined with its high speed straights.

I'll see if I can't find a whole race to watch and give it a proper chance!

Great podcast. Both the F1 stuff and the Ireland touristing advice. I stayed 3 days in Dublin in summer of 03 and it was glorious. Best people, best weather(a little rainy off and on and not hot), BEST Guinness, and two fantastic golf courses, both within an hour or so from Dublin that we played virtually all by ourselves. One coastal course where we could see the Eye of Ireland and an especially charming inland course set naturally on some Duke's property(Carton House). I thought the Dublin walk-a-rounds were great and didn't feel too touristy at all, compared to other cities in Europe. I'd agree with getting out in the country though, twas our highlight for sure.

Anyway, my 2 cents on the Alt cast next year would be to stick w/F1 for sure, but add in some WRC. Maybe on off weeks, but surely there's room for that too on a semi-regular basis at least. So hard to get much info on the WRC series here in the states; it would be so awesome to hear you guys go over the series results and gossip every week or so.

Drew: Have a great and safe trip to the far east my friend.

@yatpay: only 3 races are circles I think. Indy 500, poconos, and Houston. Everything else is road course, in fact they race on the Southern California circuit that formula 1 used to race. It's pretty good stuff, I love f1 a lot but I have actually found this years Indy to be more exciting because every race it seems like someone new wins a podium. They have racers from all over the world as well so if your not from America you will most likely find a favorite driver. I go to the Montreal f1 race in June and the Toronto Indy race in July and I think they are both amazing

IndyCar is on a mix of oval and road tracks. The road tracks are mostly street courses (so like Monaco, except in Houston or Detroit which aren't considered quite as glamorous for some reason). It's a spec series, meaning all the cars are the same, so you don't have some teams with vastly better cars. The street courses are often very bumpy and not that well maintained, and it's very easy to hit a wall if you make a mistake. The cars are about 200 pounds heavier and so can handle a bit more contact (needed for ovals).

Overall, I'd say it's a bit more on the wild and crazy side compared to the way F1 is very professional and under control, so it can be exciting for that reason.

Hey, love the podcast!

You can say "Fräulein". It has no negative connotation in German. It's just a bit dated, as it is used to address unmarried women (comp. Miss). I think it's mostly used when adults are angry with girls as in: "Was hast du dir dabei gedacht, kleines Fräulein?" - which means: "What were you thinking, young miss?"

And you were kind of spot on when it comes to endurance coverage in Germany. The Nürburgring is a regular German road - that is why everyone is allowed to drive there. Every car insurance issued in Germany has this clause which excludes the Nürburgring from insurance coverage.

Yes Danny, you can take the train from Heuston to Galway. And I got one worse, and studied at both UCD and Daddy's Business School.

Howth is also worth a trip. If you can get out West, go, Aran Island are gorgeous and seeing Connemara is amazing.
