I love the murder island series and hope it continues! Although I have a problem. Dan at one point says, "It's very clearly a Jeep, don't know if it's driveable." I would like to see a jeep that looks like the truck in this game. I'm a car guy and a Jeep Wrangler 4 Door Owner, and this is NOT a jeep, and it digs in my skin when everybody calls it a jeep.

At most this is maybe an older Toyota? I'm not sure, but Jeep has NEVER made something that looked like this. Dan, you are the reason I pay for premium, let's work something out. Just call it a TRUCK. or SUV. Something. Don't ruin Jeep's name.

@druv: Perfect! Thank you!

I take pride in my Wrangler and when I see the damn UAZ being destroyed after one jump or hill, I get frustrated! Thank you sir! Hopefully Dan and everybody else reads this!

Jeep is so ingrained in modern culture that a lot of people use it as slang for all sorts of rough terrain vehicles. It just goes to show how popular they are still.

Who says he was specifically referring to the Jeep brand? Jeep doesn't own the word, yeah the company is called that, but the term predates them and is a generic name for that type of vehicle.

@takkun169: Its still early access so no.

The more I play and see of this game the more I think armor should be far more rare then it is. Most of the 9mm weapons feel very ineffective against anyone with anything more then lvl 1 body armor.

It seems like this game is wearing thin for Jeff, non longer the enthusiasm he had for it a month+ ago.

Maybe I'm wrong though.

I think you're right, I've noticed the Chick Parabola usually hits Jeff way ahead of anyone else on the hotness.. I still love watching this game more than anything else at the moment but that's largely how I feel actually playing it.

@simkas: Jeep doesn't own the word Jeep? HAHAHAHA. It's their name dude. I promise you a crappy lawyer holding up shop in a dumpster could fight that claim. It's not a jeep. Jeep owns the right to the vehicle and that car is not a Jeep. It's a fourdoor. Anybody who says, "Oh a Jeep is just a SUV with doors" is a moron.

Jeep doesn't own the rights to jeep, lol

Jeep has actually become a genericized trademark due to its colloquial usage over the years. It is a trademark of the Chrysler Corporation and protected in some territories but has been so generic like Dumpster, Kleenex, Google, Bubble wrap, photoshop or any of the hundred other trademarks that became part of daily vernacular. While indeed there is a product called a Jeep, its also linguistically and legally perfectly fine to use it a term for a large car thing or a vague shape.

The company who owns these trademarks obviously hates but, its also a mark of success. How often do people say Xerox something? despite the brand of their photocopier?

They desperately needs to learn to NOT prone through open fields, "We are in a good spot" when they are miles away from the closest tree, bush or stone. Open fields are always deathtraps, especially when prone.

I love watching these streams, but I feel they're going to wear thin pretty soon. Going forward I'd love to see a 'East vs West" stream, with which ever team finishing higher wins. Make it best of 5 matches each episode and maybe a leaderboard to keep it interesting going forward. Just an idea.

Yup. They are always getting taken out by someone in a building or up on high ground from them and often times they can't even tell where it's coming from. Usually they are looking at one enemy and some other one is actually gunning them down.

The build up isn't worth it if you can't get into the combat for whatever reason. This is basically ARMA so it is the opposite kind of shooter any of the guys ever like or play, that needs to be said. Jeff especially.

Personally I don't find the gear up part of this game that thrilling on repeat watching. There's great things in the basics here but that's a part that can be improved on I think.

Proning in grass is always the worst option unless you are in the very last circle where everyone is on the same field. Like they don't need to be pro but it seems like both them and viewers are getting tired of the game because they die in the first fight.

@artisanbreads: it's pretty fun as long as you're not dying every first encounter like these boys are. I hate to be "that guy" but they're playing it very wrong and making a lot of mistakes, but that's cool, this isn't like a pro-stream, this is just 4 buds playing a game together.

That said, the game is very boring if you're just constantly trying to loot and "Peeta", just holing up in a single spot, and then continually dying.

He explicitly stated during the stream that he's gone from dying and being all "haha, maybe next time!" to dying and being all "ffs, now it's getting annoying". I guess that's natural in a skill-based game.

Linguistically, yes. Legally, not exactly. Sure, there aren't any laws that dictate who can say a trademarked word or call something a trademarked name, correctly or incorrectly. But Jeep (or Chrysler specifically) is the only company that can sell something called a Jeep, genericized or not. To the other points though, Jeep only owns the rights to call a jeep a Jeep, not the rights to be the only company to make jeeps. The difference between the capital J and the lowercase j in this case is pretty important. So while it could be said that you can call basically any SUV a jeep and be correct, it couldn't be called a Jeep by the manufacturer.

I wished Alex called out some of the things that he finds and leaves versus mentioning what he takes. Leaving AKMs and not mentioning it to unarmed teammates. Telling team mates there's nothing in a crate and later on needing the stuff in the crate 15 minutes later.

Whenever they're sitting around prone with no cover I always think like, well if enemies are in front of you, then your head is the first thing getting hit. Otherwise if foes are above them, then you're still a big rectangle of hitboxes either way, except now you can't serpentine or take mighty leaps.

All of this arguing about the word JEEP,and all of you forget it's origin as a product of Bahntam in the 40's, then iterated on by Willy's. @upperdecker@simkas@cornfed40@rigas

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep#Origin_of_the_name

JEEP was a term given by soldiers to the all terrain vehicle from WWII. And then It is also used as a generic term as the lowercase "jeep" for vehicles inspired by the Jeep that are suitable for use on rough terrain. So no, the GB guys are not wrong to call it that.

For reference duders, the VSS is a mid range wep only; subsonic and quiet, but massive bullet drop past about 100 yds. Also, the more you carry/have on like the big goth jackets, the more visible you are. At the end game, less than 10, drop everything off your back and just keep minimal essentials. Much less visible especially in grass/bushes. Super fun to watch you guys, hope this keeps up for a while.

Otherwise if foes are above them, then you're still a big rectangle of hitboxes either way, except now you can't serpentine or take mighty leaps.

Going prone is fine, you are a much smaller target and harder to see, but the problem with going prone in a field is that the grass does not render for other people that are more than like 50 meters away so they are just lying there in the open and very easy to see while they cannot see anything. They should be able to realize this because they look at hills and fields that have no grass on it. If you prone under a bush that's a lot more useful because bushes always render.

Proning when shooting from the top of a hill or a roof is very useful to reduce your profile but thats the only place prone is good really.

But basically, grass is not protection, its not cover, its just blocking your view. DO NOT USE GRASS AS A HIDING SPOT.
