@jasonr86: They probably won't literally think they'll win, but a lot of the emotional response to this is about as rational as the furor around Devil May Cry was a year and change ago.

Game suggestions for Patrick's weekly play:

  • One of the Ogre's: Tactics Ogre, Ogre Battle
  • Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
  • One of the games Giantbomb's already played a lot of like Persona 4 or Sleeping Dogs
  • Metal Saga (notice the dog with the rocket launcher on its back)
  • One of the Vanillaware games
  • Morrowind

what you learn about hideo kojima by playing his games is that he'd make a lot more sense as a person if he were a cult leader in a burning compound.

people are upset with the ending of burial at sea because it ends with everyone who made it being fired.

Interesting that everyone piles on Patrick for having measured criticisms of Ground Zeroes... while conveniently ignoring the fact that Jeff - far from merely criticizing it - called it flat out disgusting and said it quite possibly makes Kojima a bad person.

And unfortunately, as someone who's enjoyed and defended the fever-dream storytelling of Metal Gear ever since MGS1, I can't help but agree with him.

People using flimsy rationalizations and technicalities to justify this shit showing up in a video game about walking nuclear tank robots and nanomachine cyborgs as if it's the UN Human Rights Watch really need to take a step back and think.

...I did like the way it plays, though.

Unless I missed something I don't get why Patrick thinks the name Skull Face doesn't fit within MGS: GZ? In MGS2 there's a boss named Fatman. There's weird characters with weird names in every game.

Not to mention, Vamp, Volgin, The End, Vulcan Raven, Sniper Wolf, Psycho Mantis, Gekkos, Cyborg Ninja, etc. The list goes on and on.
