It took me a solid second to realize that the image was Guardians of the Galaxy, and in fact not the new art for Scoops and the Wolf.

If you're in to b movies, Red Letter Media has some good videos of them watching and talking about B movies.

Where was Alex getting those PSNow prices for the higher tiers? I was reading stuff that was like $25 or something for 30 days and $40 for 90 days etc.

The only good self-aware schlock I know of is Peter Jackson's first three films and Sam Raimi's.

GUARDIANS. WAS. SO. GOOD. I wrote a piece about how the movie is similar to The Emperor's New Groove on Kotaku's TAY blog here. *shameless plug* Seriously though, go see it. Blew away my expectations, and everyone in our group. Funniest movie I've seen this year.

Patrick and Alex kept saying EA Access is for "back catalog games", which seems completely inaccurate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but every game available is the current game in the franchise. BF4, FIFA 2014, and Madden 25 are the newest games in those series, not back catalog.

The big question is when does it give you access to Hardline, FIFA 2015, etc.? If you get them day 1, then this service becomes "Pay $60/year to always have the newest Battlefield, Madden, and FIFA (plus whatever other random stuff)", which is a great deal.

I don't care about any of those games, so I wouldn't buy this under any circumstance, but if it continues to always have the most up to date games, it's a great deal.

If games come to the service 6-12 months after release, then it's back to not being worth it.

All this talk of Homefront always makes me want to post one of my favorite videos on the subject.

But seriously, Homefront 2 is such a dumb thing. Who wanted that!? Who? Why even bother? I love Alex's comparison of it to a plague rat. Stay away.

The prices Alex mentioned are right on the Psn store, so maybe there. I thought it was going to be along the lines of what you mentioned, but was surprised when I found otherwise.

@themanwithnoplan: There are people in the PSNow thread listing some outrageous prices for some games.

So I guess Alex looked at ones on the low end and other people are looking at stuff on the high end.

@seikenfreak: Yeah, I checked in there last night and must've seen the low end ones as well. I saw a few 7.99's for 4 hours so I could imagine those longer rentals being fairly outrageous.

Troma has been doing stuff recently, though I don't know if it's just the name and all the original people are gone or whatever.

Most recent I can think of offhand is Father's Day which I saw not long ago, it came out in 2011. It was pretty odd, had some very weird stuff in it :), and overall was a decent watch.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I just happened to see Surf Nazis Must Die last night, it was on one of those satellite channels that shows older movies. It was pretty bad, I didn't pay attention to a lot of it :).

Guardians of the Galaxy is fucking amazing.

I watched it based on the glowing recommendation of GB chat and it was in fact really good. A lot funnier than I expected. I figured there would be jokes here and there but it's almost a non-stop comedy.

Completly disagree with Patrick. Finding out what items do is the most fun in those games. Wikis exist for people who don't have the patience to try stuff out. To me that's like complaining about how Spelunky doesn't tell you how to get to the Black Market. You have to figure it out. That's the fun of it.

I still don't quite get Patrick's stance on sequels. He just asked for another Saint's Row, an arguably great series that we have already had four installments of over the course of a single console generation, yet he seemed to negative towards Wolfenstein - a series which there have at least been five years inbetween every entry.

Went to see Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday. The movie was good - better than a lot of the crap that comes out - but it wasn't this super amazing, totally hilarious thing everyone's over-hyping it to be. It was just a fun, summer movie to me.

Trivia: B-Movies, Film/TV Credits

As a matter of fact early noir movies were in almost all cases b-movies as they were considered too complicated - meaning attracted less attention. That said noir movies were overflowing with talent because so many people (mostly Jewish) fled from Europe. Germany had been the center of the movies industry until that point (late 30s) but never recovered after WW2. This is also the reason why movies started having those crazy orchestrated soundtracks because there were so many well educated musicians coming in from Europe who agreed to play for almost nothing just to get by.
Those very specific movies which they made were kind of niche at first as they all dealt with problems which went against the production code in one way or another (any time you see a man and a woman or two men smoking it symbolizes them having sex). Anywho those were the typical b-movies - of cause they also had a significantly lower budget than regular feature films and often they were shown as double features.
As for the credits it's sometimes difficult to make out the real role of a person who is involved in a project. The way it works (in the US) dates far back and hasn't really changed. On TV it is almost impossible to tell who had done what and you need background info to figure it out. Anyone who gets a writer credit for an episode, for example, will earn some bucks any time the individual episode is air (whoever wrote those TNG Moriarty episodes :-D). Producers can have many different responsibilities, but most of them are also writers.

I decided to play up a uninformed reductive movie goer when asking to buy one ticket for, "That Raccoon Movie." The box office attendant was baffled and even looked up at the marquee to see if "Raccoon Movie" was on the board. I got a good laugh out of it.
