Man, as much as these two are by FAR my least favorite Bombers, I just really got to thinking how aweome the diveristy of this site makes it. There really is something for everyone and that does a wonderful job of really creating a community here.

It's weird because I had no interest in Shadow of Mordor, then I watched the IGN review because of boredom and the video of it made it look cool. All those nice fluid execution animations. And I thought I might have to buy it now.

Then I watched Gamespot's review and the video (along with the reviewers opinion I guess) reeled my enthusiasm back in. The gameplay does look very Assassin's Creed-ish. I nearly got 100% completion on Black Flag so I'm down with that kind of game. But maybe I'm not in the mood for that sort of game right now?

I don't know. I find it interesting to see how much certain gameplay footage, edited in a certain way can make a game look that much better or worse.

Thrasher looked like total ass garbage on Dan 'n' Drew'z Totally Diesel Demo Derby Vol. 3.3. Am I now expected to believe this is not the case?

They literally just had a trailer of this on the latest Demo Derby! I am going to assume that is why it was brought up because I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet. It looked like a terrible game.

The more people I hear talk about Destiny, the more glad I am that I never really got interested in it to begin with. It seems fine if you're playing with a bunch of your friends with voicechat and all that, but then again that doesn't really speak to the game so much as it does hanging out with your buds.

I remember playing the shit out of the demo for Thrasher. Lots of skating around freestyle while Rapper's Delight played, every run ending in a cop chasing and tazing you. You could also manually bail and ragdoll around, which I always found welcome in XTREME SPORTZ games.

Thrasher was really good. A lot of people didn't get into it because of the learning curve. But once you actually got good at it it was a damn good game!

There's a pretty good moment in the last Demo Derby where Dan says Thrasher is "obviously a cheap ripoff" (or something like that) of Tony Hawk.

Thrasher was the first game I worked on. We were really limited by the engine in what we could actually do onscreen. Angles on Geometry were limited to increments of 45 degrees, and for most of us, it was our first game. I still get a lot of love from folks who remember it fondly, but I totally get the criticisms, too. You should see the Japanese cover for the game, it's pretty cool.

Thrasher was so underrated. So was Grind Session.

@hippie_genocide: Thrasher was a game like Skate (1 & 2 at least) where in its for people that skated in real life. People that don't wont understand or relate to it cause it was way more grounded in the realistic limitations of what a person could actually do. It encouraged more creativity in finding spots in and creating lines like a real skater does cause the levels where more closely modeled after more true-to-life skate spots. I'll still say Thrasher and Skate are miles better than the whole Tony Hawk series, (and i love the tony hawk series) simply because it feels more like real skating. But don't get me wrong it wasn't the most polished game in the world by any means!!! lol

TLDR: different strokes for different folks plain and simple

and p.s.: to the person commenting on what dan said about the game, .......i mean the guy wants to open a restaurant where people cut up your food for you, that says a lot about a person lol, Slightly hardcore realistic stuff isn't exactly his forte, remember the metro quick look 0_o

The Vanishing of EC3, aka Impact getting cancelled.

Vinny seems reluctant to "mess up a good thing". People who talked to Alex at PAX Prime say he mentioned doing a new podcast with Vinny that won't just be Bombcast East Coast edition; something with guests, developers, etc.

@schindigg: I love the Skate games; imo they're the best skateboarding games ever made. But you can probably count on one hand (ok, maybe two) the number of PS1 games you can go back to. They've just all aged horribly and Thrasher looked rough as hell. It was a necessary learning period going from sprite based 2D gaming into 3D polygon hell. I'm heading off on a tangent so I'll stop and just say yes the Skate series was awesome.

Thrasher was a great fucking game with an even greater fucking soundtrack.

Alex should stop trying to trying to find fun in Destiny and just play another game that's actually fun.

@hippie_genocide: Thrasher is not a good looking game, but I'd rate it better than Tony Hawks as a skating game. It's a great game with a great soundtrack and challenging controls. It's much closer to a skate-sim than Tony Hawks. TH is very much arcade like while Thrasher got across how difficult pulling off these tricks actually are. You're not going to be doing quadruple kickflip 1080's in Thrasher, but when you land a good grind, you feel like you earned it.

Making your own fun is the whole fucking point of Destiny....

Part of the reason people keep going back to Destiny is because there is nothing else to play at the moment. Once more AAA titles start hitting over the next two months we'll start to see a major drop in the Destiny population.

I enjoyed the first 6 episodes of The Strain.

then it really slows down and they get way too wrapped up in plot devices. Way too many characters that are one dimensional and serve a single purpose. Like the super elite hacker chick. Her only reason for existing is to have the internet turned off. That's not even a character. That's just a plot devices. The worst is the scenes where it's just 2 of these plot devices bickering back and forth. That feels like nothing but filler.

The Walking Dead is not terrible. Some parts of the drama is overacted and there's some bad writing here and there. It's mostly just frustrating that they don't spend time discussing survival strategy. How many times has their group been broken apart and they never previously discussed a meeting spot to regroup? Season 2 was not as bad as people like to make it seem. The mid-season finale and season finale of season 2 were both excellent.

I'm interested to see what Tom Chick says about the new Civ. I've liked his criticism of the previous ones.

That's how I've always felt about the Call of Duty series -- it may not be the greatest game or change much from release-to-release, but I always end up playing each one because I enjoy doing so with my friends each November.

I happened to listen to this first, and now I NEED to go watch that diesel Demo Derby.

Wow, I've never seen a GB post with so few comments. I feel like I'm in some parallel universe or something.

It's really funny that Patrick thought there was a dedicated button for kissing your wife in Shadow of Mordor, when really they just swap out the stealth kill button, and only like one time in the entire game.
