Bombin' the A.M. With Scoops and the Wolf: 12/20/2013

We close out 2013 with extensive talk about Assassin's Creed IV: Freedom Cry, diversity, and long sighs about...The Hobbit.

Grab a cup of coffee, and catch up on the day's headlines with Giant Bomb guys that aren't in San Francisco.

Been a great year, think this show has been great for getting an understanding about how you both operate.

Should have known to turn this off as soon as the PA talk started, since I knew I'd just get pissed off. Not much for me to say that hasn't already been said I suppose, other than the opinions expressed in this episode are head-shakingly awful.

I think Alex is wrong; I think Peter Jackson does care. If I recall correctly, he always wanted to do the Hobbit, but was blocked by Tolkien's estate until Lord of the Rings blew up and became successful.

The problem is the dude has no idea what brevity is. He made three very long Fantasy movies and released even longer Extended Editions. Watching all three extended LOTR movies is like a 9-10 hour affair. And then you look at King Kong. That movie could've been 45 minutes shorter and better for it.

Peter Jackson loves to take his time, to show you everything, to build and flesh everything out to a detrimental degree. It's exhaustive, and that first Hobbit movie stretched things just a little too thin for the way Peter Jackson is obviously settling in to making movies.

This show is pretty darn cool. I did not think this was going to be as good as it is, but I am glad that it is, I truly enjoy it. Looking forward to seeing what they bring in 2014.
