Sorry guys but can I ask a super dumb question here? can someone explain the rough concept of a "raid"?

I am just so not an RPG/MMO guy at all. I have an idea of what they are but have zero experience or real knowledge of them. I get that its a unique event kinda thing but this just looks like an FPS co-op mission to me? I realise I am missing something.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to stoop to my level :P

Not an MMO guy either so I may not be the best to explain but it's just like a really high level mission with a very difficult boss at the end that requires multiple people to get through. In games like WoW you really have to focus on using the "Holy Trinity" of tank, DPS, and healer, but the main idea is just that every person has to really focus on playing their assignment or "doing their job" in order for everyone to get through.

What would differentiate it from just a regular co-op mission in an FPS or something is its length, difficulty, and stress on actual cooperation vice just kind of running around and shooting dudes.

@infamousbig: thanks man. Watching the first video at least that makes sense.

Seems like the key is that you're getting all sorts of new enemies/mechanics thrown at you with little explanation so you kinda just have to figure it out? e.g. everyone having to figure out they needed to be "cleansed" and such.

The more I watch of this the more I get that its not just a co-op mission but if any one person fucks up then the whole team is screwed. That's how it looks anyway. Looks pretty fun tbh but damn I wouldn't want to do it with people I didn't know.

Doing this with randoms would be a nightmare. Possible, but a nightmare.

I have to say, the fuzzy chat makes it sound like military radios.

What's that black block that keeps appearing in the upper left of the screen?

Voice chat sounds awesome as if it is coming in from an Apollo mission.

I believe those are PS4 notifications that are automatically censored by the streaming software.

@kungfusnowman: Not as bad as you think. I had zero friends on my PSN when destiny came out. So I took for the bungie forums and found a group of guys. We have played together every night since then.

Brad seems a lot smarter with the audio being out of sync, he just analyses everything so fast or even ahead of time.

Brad is a wizard after all.

As much hate as has been thrown to Destiny in terms of mediocrity, watching these guys n gal play through the raid really does look fun (if it's with friends). Too bad I don't have any to Destiny with (nor a ps4 :()

Same here. I had 1 friend on PS4 before Destiny came out. Now I have like 25-30.

Every time Brad sees an Oracle, and runs past it (the one time he was standing right on it)

Every time Brad gets detained and just chills in the bubble.

When Brad gets Found Verdict on his first raid and laments "But, I already have a legendary shotgun" without understanding the majesty of Found Verdict.

Knowing what we know about the raid now, this was agonizing. But I guess that's what makes it fun. Everyone's first raid is crazy.

Every time that one dude (don't know if it was Reid or Jared) says "mee-lee" instead of "may-lay"

I love the Suros Regime Brad is using, it looks like it's straight out of Mass Effect.
