I cannot unsee it now that maybe that looping animation of a guy trying to push up the couch is someone in the development team expressing the cycle of making CoD games.

Also, is it just me, or does this game look kinda bad the minute Jeff stepped out into the open from the apartments?

The Misha Petrov's voice actor is totally the same guy that voiced Artyom in the Metro series.

Thanks for the video Jeff. Wow he sounded so dejected when he noped out of that campaign. Shame to see the hammy, cliched Hollywood version of the war.

This might be one of my favorite quick looks. The editing is fantastic especially around the dialogue. Good mix of poking fun around the game and also explaining it. It also felt very conversational even though it was only one person talking.

Edit: Well I saw the 19 minute quick look on YouTube and wanted to comment on it and thought this was the same video.

who....is this writing style for? Nail on the head wtih the like, final fantasy Remake's insistence of having you do ploddy, confusing obligatory feeling moments so they can be considered either more substantial or 'block-buster-good', and it's just not. Things like, for the sake of having there be a game at all, and it results in sequences like the bottles thing which is like..."what". It's so call and response to restate what jeff was laughing at, because yeah this thing almost feels like a self parody...maybe that's harsh, but boy, i almost never say this, but even with a general interest in WII, this looks like it has quippy Avengers Syndrome writing and it's baaaad...in the boring bad formulaic way that tries to make a game people can access, and be brazenly confused as far it's own intentions as an accurate world war 2 depiction, and fast and the furious.

I mean, World War 2 is probably still the most important thing that has happened, in, well, the entirety of human history, as far as shaping the landscape of the early stage on which our world plays out, which is to say; a pretty big deal, that you can still make interesting. They seem to forget who they are targeting and it's just, look at those cutscene graphics, right, why did they make THIS?

No disrespect to the artists and programmers and hard workers on the project, but this feels like the mmmost rote thing I've seen from this franchise, and, while that shouldn't surprise me as it is a pretty rapid-release of em at this point, um, it feels like the game itself doesn't care. I see this and think, well, this ain't the one that's gonna bring me back, I just wonder who they thought that would be.

Maybe, it's still me, at the end. Final Fantasy 13 notoriously took notes from modern warfare. Call of Duty is, ostensibly still, a good game, and I am talking about THE FIRST one. So what is going on, right? They keep putting them out, I keep going "ah, Call of Duty, I played that game, maybe one day I'll buy it in it's vape-flavor-like assortment of attempts to justify just how important it is that we need it annually, and have circled around so many times, we made easy joke material for jeff to totally rip.

Which, thanks jeff, I had fun

*i am joking, have fun with your video game, it looks like a video game for someone, like, a call of duty fan, i have no idea anymore. I want a de-rezzed low poly call of duty with EVERY engine filter turned on, but, in third person, and, waterworld setting. I may be asking a lot

what if there were a reality in which ubisoft decided to be cool and make an excellent hybrid shooter good ghost recon game again :(. To both companies, take like, three years off, and really reinvent something for video games. I know that's idealistic, and unrealistic as heck but you should do it, because there's enough talent working at these studios that obligatory releases, while trying not to dunk on whomever's idea this was, was not the cool idea to go with this year, and it feels like they are throwing darts with each passing year..*bloopy horns* well, that's call of duty!

I haven't touched the campaign yet but I am having a blast with the multiplayer, unlike Cold War it just feels good and fun to play. I was done with Cold War really quickly but I can see myself playing this for quite a long time.

Part of the problem is that "new" Call of Duty has been around a lot longer than "old" Call of Duty. There were 4 years between the first Call of Duty and the original Modern Warfare. There have been 14 years between Modern Warfare and Vanguard. That's crazy to think about. New COD is now a moody teenager. It's in freaking high school.

Which is a problem. Part of the reason why Modern Warfare was a success was because it was such a major change in formula from what had come before. Those original games were already getting stale after four years and three games. But if you look at the stretch of Modern Warfare to now, there hasn't been that same kind of shift to refresh the gameplay. Granted, I'm not the biggest COD person, but I'd argue that each game in the series has been basically the same gameplay wise as Modern Warfare.

Got to the part about having a woman as the main character and her accolades as a good soilder...well acted...cool story...driven character...Searched online and i hear mary sue and other stuff...yup Im guessing some of this new COD hate is geared from not only the game being you know fine as a COD, but smokescreened under some really happy it failed or could fail cause it has a main character thats a strong woman. :( when will the world get over this. I think the woman character is cool for what its worth. Reviews on her character are also positive so well see.

Hmm, this campaign sort of reminds me of Battlefield 1's setup. Especially as they try to do an overwatch with making you play as certain characters, each with their own abilities. So you put together a 4-6 hour campaign where you're being slung from one character to the other, while also trying to tell an overarching story. Flashbacks ensue. Honestly i think that they gave it a good go, but it's also understandable that it's hard to care for characters that are just a vessel to let you sit in a plane for 20 minutes before you move on to the next.

That zombie-mode story seems like it's very pointed towards the group of people that already care about the storyline, while doing 0 to give newcomers something to hold on to. It's already hard to focus on a story that unveils while you're busy doing action-y things like it's a japanese shoot em up, but rattling off a bunch of mystical names and magical objects from the get-go is very offputting if you don't know what's up yet. I like to think good writing can make someone jump into an on-going story and still pretty much be able to follow what's up. People don't have to know what happened in Uncharted 1 to enjoy Uncharted 2's story i imagine.
