I love hype trains.

I know they were being "zany" with some of their predictions, but man...some really bad predictions in there.

I'm not a regular listener but this episode was hilarious. I laughed out loud when that song played.

After every Hype Train, I said this is no longer funny... and then I was proven wrong EVERY TIME. xD

My hips started to move uncontrollably each time the Quad City DJ's came on. This was all while shaving. It could have ended poorly.

Yeah. Especially the "no Gears of War at E3" one, since it was just recently announced that the Bulletstorm guys are working on a Gears title.

does anyone else have a problem with remembering what game the guys are actually discussing?

they say the title only once (perhaps they don't enunciate enough) and 5 minutes later I have to rewind a bunch to catch the title because I'm multitasking. been a common occurrence in the previous 8-4 podcasts I've recently gone through.

This is now my second favorite train-related gaming podcast. And my favorite active train-related gaming podcast.

EDIT: I don't know if a new dual stick 3DS will be unveiled, but it damn well better. A lot of us aren't into the first version of the 3DS hardware, and won't get into the platform until a sleeker revision is available.

I wish we could see the highest grossing mobile or social game from the past year versus the top 10 boxed games of the last year. I bet most (or all) of the boxed games would be higher. If you're talking cost vs profit ratio then of course mobile games will be higher - it's easy and cheap to make a skinner box with 2D graphics. Mobile and social gamers are a different audience than "core" gamers and there's just no way they're taking over the space. If every publisher sees their salvation in F2P and mobile and decides to run over there, expect it to get oversaturated and take a nose dive just like the MMO market.

Also, someone should ask these nebulous Japanese, Chinese, and Korean developers how well their games sold worldwide versus games made in the US and Europe. Maybe, just maybe, the cost model isn't the problem here. Then again, even if only 5% of gamers outside of their region play them, if 75% inside the region play and they're making money, then more power to 'em I guess.

I'm surprised at how much activity these guys are getting now that they're on GB. I honestly thought they would've just faded behind all of the GB content, but great to see them doing well. I'm loving these guys.

Can somebody explain what this podcast is? I can't find an About page for this, and I'm not sure who these guys are or why it's on Giant Bomb. Entertaining though, either way!

If everyone company used "Come on ride the train" as their press conference main theme this year, the world would be a better place.

@SpikeDelight: There's not much. There's an article up by Patrick Klepek a few weeks ago if you want to find that.

Basically these guys are 8-4. A company in Japan that translates and localises Japanese games into English and vice versa. Their staff comes from different backgrounds including 1UP and other places.

GiantBomb partnered with them to host their podcast because a) 8-4 wanted a bigger audience and b) GiantBomb wanted a better representation of Japanese game/culture to the site where everyone GB shrugs at it.

Most of the predictions were fun even if they were wrong. But some of them were said in a way that the person making the predictions seemed to be implying everyone else was stupid for not having the same viewpoint...And then the predictions were WRONG! When you make predictions, I think you gotta be humble about the fact that you could be wrong. That keeps the fun in it. Last Guardian... :)
