Yay! This is such a great game with one of the most helpful communities I've seen around a game. Glad to see the crew play it again.

@rorie: I really loved this! I know that coordinating these multiplayer streams is pretty tough so I'm very grateful whenever y'all are able to achieve it no matter what game it is.

I've been waiting for another DRG stream! Would be pretty nice if this became a regular thing.

In case this does end up being a series, here are some tips!

General

• hold Ctrl for the laser to not only see here your teammates are, but also pay attention to the 4 pips below each player's portrait, these represents how much ammo/grenades they have left!
• if you intend to have the driller get something higher up on a wall, using the laser to ping it can help tremendously to give them a point of reference to drill towards

Engineer

• your platforms pair extremely well with the scout! Scout flare guns the ceiling for valuables up there, and then you shoot platforms at each mineral/metal vein and ping them, and the scout can grapple up there and mine safely from your platforms
• your platforms can also be shot back to back to form a bridge for shorter distances to save the gunner their more rarer zipline ammo
• if the gunner's zipline ends up at an awkward spot against a wall, shooting a platform just under it can provide a safe landing spot!
• putting a platform against a wall, and then putting your turrets on it will give it a higher vantage point if you're defending a swarm with some obstacles blocking line of sight
• chuck a couple of your grenades to buy you time! Either for setting up turrets, reviving a teammate, or getting ammo mid swarm

Scout

• everyone can flare at ground level, when entering a new cavern, shoot your flares higher up towards the ceiling to find minerals that only you can grapple up to! This habit also helps immensely when you encounter cave leeches later
• flare up beyond natural flare throwing distances at openings and ceilings just as a swarm start, this will allow the team to see where all the enemies are crawling from and allow better use of grenades and prevent webshooter an acid spitters from sniping you freely from the ceiling
• you can hold the fire button when grappling to "hang out" at your grapple point
• since red sugar usually juts out from a wall higher up, you can usually grapple just above it and land on it safely, then mine out a little hole above it, stand in that, and mine out the red sugar for your teammates below

Driller

• when digging back to the drop pod, watch the heat on your drill arm! I find it helpful to get up to ~90% and then pull up the map briefly to see if you need to adjust your angle as something to do to let them cool down before drilling some more.
• drillers are great for getting the team up somewhere high as the gunner's zipline can't shoot at a steep incline and engineers would have to expend a lot of platforms
• driller's flamethrower is ideal against the small little swarmers with its area effect attack

Gunner

• the shield can make or break runs. Bugs will repel and flee from the shield and they're great for buying time to revive a teammate or resupplying in the middle of a swarm
• you can overlap one zipline over another to form a network and jump from one zipline to another
• if you're defending a swarm in an open cavern, prepare a zipline upwards and ride it back and forth to stay in the air to avoid a lot of damage from the melee oriented bugs while raining bullets down on them!
• your secondary revolver can shoot down red sugar that's out of reach

@humanity: I've been playing this game pretty much solo and it's great. You get a little flying robot buddy that helps you out and it's nice to take your own time, especially in the first few hours or so, to learn the mechanics of the game.

A fun experience however you'd like to play it.

@piano_dentist: how does that work don’t you need the different classes to drill and such?

@humanity: Not really; you can hack away at any of the rock with your axe, it just takes longer. All the classes work solo, but the main class I play with is scout as he has the grappling hook for good movement and flare gun to really light up the caves. Plus, you can ask your little robot to hack away at any hard to reach places.

I would really recommend the game if you like what you see, even if soloing. Stays pretty fresh as the procedural generation is excellent. Lots of variety in cave types, too.

To add to Lanechanger's good good tips:

- The best build/weapon is the one that's most fun to play

- Having said that, upgrades that provide more ammo are generally better than ones that provide +damage

- Don't sleep on upgrades for your backpack. Every other one or two grants +5 hit points

- Swarmers die easily to regular pickaxe swings so you don't have to waste ammo on them

- Scout can grapple to lower ground and take no falling damage

- Scout and engineer should keep an eye out for acid/web spitters, wardens, menaces, etc. and deal with them so gunners and drillers can focus on groups of enemies

- Engineer doesn't need to look at the turrets to recall them - they can even be recalled while on the run!

- On point extraction missions, the engineer can put a sentry on top of the rocket and it'll do some real good work for you because of the clear line of fire and most things crawling on the cave ceiling will be in range

- Gunner shooting from a zipline is good (especially against Dreadnaughts), just be careful not to get hit by projectiles or you'll fall

- Don't worry about getting extra morkite or nitra to get more XP from mining minerals because it's not worth the time spent

- Upgrading/crafting minerals are located in specific biomes, so if you need more of a certain type, run missions in those biomes

- Spam "salute" whenever you're not doing anything else and sometimes when you are!

You know the profanity meter is going to be off the charts, when Rorie is listed as a participant.

"This is a video game, so shoot the glowy bits if you can" is maybe the funniest thing I've ever heard from Ben.

Awesome stream. Love these sort of videos. I know it's tough to get everyone together especially across the country so really appreciate it.

Been watching the Astroneer series and Minecraft and this game feels like the natural evolution if those games has a violent child.

Currently loving this game with friends and REALLY wanted to watch this, but far too much profanity!!!

Just going to throw it out there that Chewbacca probably has a dick of a gorilla, which is under 2 inches when erect. Have a good day everyone!
