The gameplay was good, dammit. It's in the same league as Uncharted, so the panning of the gameplay makes no sense to me.

I guess the main difference is that Uncharted is fun, fluid and actually has a framerate. Spec Ops really suffers in the technical department. Couple that with the lackluster feel of the combat, and you've got yourself one poorly playing game. Story is interesting, but not really good. I applaud what that game tries to be.

Played the PC version myself, so for me it was pretty solid on the technical side and the shooting felt good with a mouse. It's not anything unique, so I guess I understand long-time reviewers who have played every single third-person shooter since 2006 being unimpressed with it, but I honestly thought the core combat mechanics were right up there with Uncharted (if not the setpieces)
