Giant Bombcast 11/19/2013

Finally the next generation of podcast has arrived.

I think the more important question to ask during the part where they were talking about the unforeseen problems with people streaming games before release, should have been "or maybe they should have made a better game?" Say what you want, but it's not like the guy doctored up a video to somehow discredit the game, the game is what it is, and streaming tends to show that, minus the slightly lower image quality that twitch puts out, of course.

NBA Live 14 has already been called out in reviews as the incredibly mediocre game that it is, especially compared to 2k14, the only difference is that the guy on twitch didn't have to hold back because of any type of embargo. To be honest, I think the only people having paranoid meetings about this type of stuff are the people getting ready to push out the next "Aliens: Colonial Marines" and are worried about how this type of easier and more accessible streaming, might make it harder for them to trick people into boosting their day one sales and preorder numbers. Especially if game sites have their hands tied by embargoes or just aren't sent a copy for review so they can tell people that a game is hot garbage.

Brothers is fucking boring and just because it says something towards the end doesn't make it a fun and interesting experience.

I get the sense that Jeff must have gotten some hardcore shit from Nintendo fans for his Majora's Mask review based on the way he talks about that game now. Obviously he's exaggerating for effect but he seems to actually not like the game despite reviewing it pretty well at the time.

Thank you Jeff for being the voice of reason with the Brothers not so awesome after all talk. I'm looking forward to the GoTY throw down in a month. But fuck Brothers, that game was boring as hell.

I don't care much for the games that he talked about, but holy crap - is he trying to troll people with the exaggerations? Cause I know he's funnier than this.

The Appleization of all that Xbox stuff sounds like my worst nightmare. I get why that's what their core audience would want, and I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, but it's not for me at all. We'll see where all this stuff is at in a couple of years, but the Xbox One might have just moved from "buy in a couple years" to "buy never" for me. Also, since I wouldn't be using voice commands, it's kind of irrelevant how great all of that stuff is, especially when it sounds like the UI is crappy for controllers.

Brad has done the exact same thing on several occasions in the past, then proceeds to shutdown and whine when he is challenged or corrected on said subject. eg. The bet that Brad won't finish AC:Brotherhood (after completely slandering it) based on his feelings of AC1, after Ryan repeatedly stated that the former was a vast improvement over its predecessors.

It's more Brad being trolled for making quite an outlandish set of claims, and then continuing to praise the gospel known as Brothers on multiple live streams and social media for an extended period of time while shooting down people that didn't enjoy it as much as he did than hate for the game. The fact that he likes it is fine but don't shove it down people throats.

I wanted to like Brothers but found it difficult to get past how depressingly boring it was, on several occasions I combated unconsciousness while playing and was forced to use the credit reel as motivation to complete it.

You're totally overreacting here. Brad was definitely not shoving Brothers down people's throat as much as you think he is. Don't let your dislike of Brothers cloud your vision here man.

Little worried that Brad and Jeff were going to duel at 30 minutes.

The Last of Us is better than Brothers! I hope Brad and Jeff give that game a fair chance before game of the year deliberations

I understand that KI and KI2 were bad fighting games, but as a kid they were both mind blowing, especially the arcade versions. Jeff was old enough to understand fighting game balance and see it was bad digitized bullshit, but I was about 11 at the time, so they were the best games ever. Mostly because any arcade game that had audio set up to loud as fuck was the best ever.

Brads over-hype of Brothers is what clouded my vision duder, don't get me wrong I value Brad's opinion along with the others on whether a game is worth buying or not as with like many i do not have an unlimited amount of funds to throw at dem Vidyo Geams. It's incredibly frustrating tho being recommended a game that's being touted effectivly GOTY and it turns out to be nothing more than a sack of rocks. Way she goes i guess.

I know what you mean. On one level I think it's probably the smart approach, differentiating consoles even more as the "it just works" system for your living room, and I think for a pretty large majority it's probably going to be more enjoyable to use than it would have been with a more traditional, detail and option rich approach like the PS4, with its vast amount of room for clutter and poor organisation....

It's gonna be a bummer for me when they do their game of the year deliberations and Brad and Jeff have both still only played an hour of The Last Of Us. Oh well.

Not a big deal about the new Zelda game, but I kinda wish I would have just stumbled across the Majora's Mask thing during play, instead of having it forcefully yelled at me in this podcast.

The part where they are talking about how "great" the new Kinect voice commands are has to be the dumbest conversation in any bombcast this year. Now all of the sudden they don't know how to find anything on an Xbox One without voice command? Fucking ridiculous.

Am I the only one that enjoyed the original Killer Instinct on the SNES? I played the shit out of that.

I also played the shit out of that. Fulgore's shit was the worst.

Amazon shipped PS4s very poorly in many cases. In the case of one customer, his PS4 shared a box with a heavy dumbbell he requested and was promised would be shipped separately. His PS4 worked but the chassis has been cracked and broken as a result.

Okay, first off, Super Paper Mario had an awesome character line up. Second, that special power up Brad was talking about sounds like it was in Super Paper Mario and was way more amazing.

I know I am in the total minority here, but Galaxy was just Okay, but the best Mario game in the last decade has been Super Paper Mario. Play it and be in awe. Maybe this new one is okay.

it also reminds me of a more riskier Nintendo to an extent. RE4 exclusive (which itself was risky) an FPS Metroid, that weird cel-shaded Zelda everyone hated, Majora's Mask being probably the weirdest thing they've done, Pikmin.... now they're just relying on old stuff
