If it's like Shadowrun on the Xbox 360 I'm all ears. I spent soooo many hours playing that game.

This has been my favorite new show on GB. It's fun to get to hear some inside baseball. And Jeff is very good at carrying a show solo.

Just to clarify for people, because the Overwatch 2 discussions are always physically painful:

Overwatch 2 is two components. First, an engine upgrade to the PvP portion of the game, with new heroes, new maps, and the switch to 5v5. This is coming to Overwatch 1 at no cost.

Secondly, it has a group PvE component that we've heard little about. This is the paid content, and likely the source of the delay.

Continuing to support Overwatch 1 doesn't show investors that the company produces value, because Overwatch 1 doesn't actually get money from its longtime players. Longtime players (of which I am one) have no reason to buy lootboxes because of the no-duplicate-items change they implemented years ago. Calling it Overwatch 2, and adding the paid PvE content (as well as post-release PvE content from the sounds of it) gets non-players to pay attention to it, as well as provides a way to actually get money from the people who play it the most.

Scrapping OW2 and just releasing the heroes and maps now in OW1 doesn't make them more money or bring in new players.

The funny thing about the Star Wars sequel trilogy was that most people hated The Last Jedi for a lot of reasons, some of them unreasonable which I won't get into. But then Rise of the Skywalker came out, tried to do what the people were complaining about wanted, and ended up being one of the worst films in Sci-Fi, never mind Star Wars. The whole thing was a mess from the start, but The Last Jedi was the right direction the story was going in as it turned out. I dare say Jupiter Ascending was a better movie, for the "its so bad its good" appeal.

@sildas: Thanks for clarifying.

Can you explain what happens to the current state of Overwatch 1's PVP? Is it just getting completely overwritten by Overwatch 2? Will there still be some way to play it in its current engine with 6v6?

To put it simply, should Blizzard just say "Overwatch 1 is going away, and Overwatch 2 is taking its place."?

It's kind of amazing what a wet fart the Disney-era Star Wars movies have turned out to be. I enjoyed The Force Awakens just fine thanks to rock bottom expectations, thought Rogue One and The Last Jedi were enjoyable, and then the movies fell off a cliff. I think the worst part is how clearly little of a plan Disney had for the trilogy other than "eh these nerds will watch anything". I don't know how much I care about where Star Wars goes from here now, which is a bummer.

Its a update essentially like all the others. If you still wanna play overwatch 1 as is thats impossible, since you cant even play the game without updating and being online even against bots. The rules of overwatch changed so much from day one so your never playing old overwatch. Anyway, yeah 5 v 5 with more powers but it all will feel essentially the same. I wouldnt worry too much. Its really overwatch 1.5 but 2 plastered on it when it comes to pvp. When it comes to an entire game, they have more story, modes, costumes etc so yes it is different. Anyway you can by 2 or just get yours upgraded. Im sure buying it adds more optional stuff but game will always be the same for competitive reasons.

@allthedinos: you act like Lucas had a plan. Or was Luke always supposed to want to fuck his sister?

I felt that way after 8 and Solo, but then I finally got into the TV shows. Turns out that's where all the passion and effort is in Star Wars these days. Clone Wars even managed to redeem the prequel trilogy in my eyes.
