Lockdown 2020: Jan and Daxter

Played every Naughty Dog game besides these. Like Ryckert, I was too cool for mascot platformers at the time.

Bloodborne in hiatus

Was driving and listening to some old podcast from February when driving across the country. And the discussion of Jack and Daxter, Ratchet and clank and sly came up. So, finding this when I came home was kind of perfect.

This is the only Naughty Dog game I've played. It was good. I don't really like platformers but really enjoyed this. Never played the sequels though.

Now THAT's a game! God that takes me back.... Damn it Jan now I'm gonna look for some HD compilation somewhere

I’ve played through Jak and Daxter five or six times over the years. All time favorite 3D platformer. I think I Platinumed the HD port on PS3. Jak 2 used to be a favorite but now it’s my least favorite of the series.

(contented sigh)

Disclaimer: I haven't played TLOU 2, but I'm still confident in saying Jax 2 is the best Naughty Dog game.

He's talking about Daxter on Jak's shoulders. And by the end of the trilogy, Daxter turned out to be a precursor :O

This was my favorite of the Jak & Daxter games.

When Jak II came out, I thought it looked great, but driving around the city was not very fun to me and the vehicles blew up too easily.

Jak 3 was a lot better, although I didn't give it a proper playthrough until a few years ago when I played the PS3 version.

I've beaten all the mainline J and D several times and am still pretty sore about Sony not releasing a proper HD collection on PS4.

It feels so good clearing out the collectibles in every area!

I remember when my neighbor got himself a ps2, this was the first game he had. Truly a next-gen moment for me and it did lead me to buy my first console a bit later on.

Ratchet and clank was always better. Jax and daxter ended with a crappy combat racing game. Ratchet and clank is still out here in the game throwing heaters. Think about it

@janman KOS ADVICE

I'm sure you've realized this by now but KOS is the hardest boss in the game, by far. The fight has many similarities to some of the very best (and hardest) fights from DS3 and Sekiro in terms of flow, and by learning how to beat this boss now you will level up your "soulsborne"-game forever.

My advice:

• You need more patience. A classic way of learning souls-bosses is to just treat it like a dance. Your goal is not to defeat the boss…just partake in a dance and avoid taking damage for as long as you can. When you get a grip on that, you can start getting some hits in here and there. But, make every hit count! Hit once — then get out of range. Don't ever trade blows. (There are BB builds that can trade blows, but yours is not one of them).
• Study someone really good at the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Zz6Ke66u-A I don't advise you to approach the boss in the same way, but you can study his positioning. (If you're a fan of fighting games, you can treat any souls humanoid boss as you'd do a street fighter game.)
• If you do the above, you will develop a Stockholm syndrome-like relationship with this boss fight. Once you beat him, you just want to get in there again. Just one more dance.
• Bonus: Level up your VIT. Some extra HP can really make a difference in this fight.

PS. You are already a beast at dodging. You will have an amazing time in DS/3 with a DEX-focused build.

Never really played these games. Crash is as close as I got to 3d platformers from this era.

Also: is this the HD collection? Cause it really really clean and smooth.

Sly Cooper (esp. Sly 2) is the best. I loved playing those games on the PS2.
